The developers found out that Victory Mall Tanauan is using a manual process in

their transactions and for managing data that consumes more time and worse resulting in

loss of some important data. The administrator cannot easily locate the information of a

single person because it is unorganized and all the information is in a single drawer

which causes a lot of trouble in finding necessary information. Also, the administrator

records data manually resulting in exerting a lot of efforts for the admin to perform their

jobs. The developers focused their study in developing a system for Victory Mall

Tanauan for stall management for transaction process and also recording for the tenants’

information. Also, the administrator records information for stall holders. SMS

notification is being used for sending or reminding stall holders about their payments and

announcement of the market, also the developed system focused on managing stall

holders information.

Furthermore, the developers used visual basics in creating and designing each

form of the system. It is also used for local systems to be connected at the same time as

input information. MySQL server is the database used to store all the data and

information needed in the system. The developers used crystal reports to view and print

the needed reports to be viewed by the administrator. Meanwhile, the Rapid Application

Development process is used for compressing the process of analyzing, designing, testing

and evaluating. It is also used to allow developers to update software quickly, at the same

time reduces the development time and reusability of the components which help to

speed up the system development. On the other hand, Black box testing is conducted by

performing an individual testing to each form. This testing is being used to focus on the

analysis of the system functionality that involves a set of software's functions needed to

be checked for valid output of the system to be developed. Based on the data and

information gathered, the developed system provides the most convenient and effective

way in giving ease, less time consuming, better services, reliable outcome, manageable

operations and also the developed system helps the administrator of the Victory Mall and

CHAPTER 1

Project Context

During the couple of decades, the human generations have experienced a

tremendous growth in the development of technology. Technology affects humanity in

general since it is connected with the system. This includes the techniques, skills,

methods, and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the

accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation.

Technology can be the knowledge of techniques, processes, and the like, or it can

be embedded in machines to allow for operation without detailed knowledge of their

workings. Throughout the years, computer technology is rapidly increasing and it is by

the presence of computers that people can easily communicate using the internet.

Technology has a part in business matters wherein there are machines that can help to

create a product for business and industry.

Meanwhile, manual process or paper based is used to record data that sometimes

results in data loss and consume too much time to transfer information. Government

made it easier for the community to save the data for everyone. Public market has a

variety of stalls wherein people can go and buy their preferences. It includes stalls that

have a stand, booth, or compartment for the sale of goods in a market or large covered

area. Stall holders pay their rent every month and the government lists down the

information of the stall holders.

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

As of now, the Tanauan City Public Market is redeveloped as Victory Mall &

Market. Victory Mall and Market is classified as “General Commercial District” of the

Central Business District (CBD) and part of the Urban Core Zone. Re-development of the

existing Tanauan City Public Market into a modern, safe, convenient, environmentally

friendly and efficient place has been a great move to make it more pleasing to the public

including the commercial center with public transport terminal along Mabini Avenue.

With the growing population of Tanauan City which is 170,000.00, it is now a

viable option for franchises, food, entertainment, medical, services and apparel and other

related products and services. Victory Mall and Market stalls are divided into two

categories such as the wet and dry with a total of 966 stalls. Dry section has 637 stalls

which are being categorized into services, salons, RTWs, Bags, Shoes, Accessories,

Tailoring, Grocery and Rice, while the wet section includes 448 stalls necessary for fish,

meat and vegetables. The said establishment uses manual process in monitoring stall,

recording payment transaction and the information of stallholder. Seeing those

difficulties, the developers came up with the proposed stall management and monitoring

system. The system can easily lessen their work and can monitor the personal information

of stall holders/tenants, as well as the payment made that will notify the stall

holders/tenants that will help the staff and administrator of Victory Mall and Market –

Tanauan City. Through the developed system, the stall holders can register, view the

history of their payments transactions made and to easily identify the available stalls in

the mall and market. The developers came up with the concept of providing a monitoring

management system through the use of technology, which is a massive help for the

administrator and stall holders/tenants. The personal information of stallholders, as well

as their stall numbers and payments, will be registered and tracked in a database.

Purpose and Description

This project aims to develop a system that can help the administrator to manage

and monitor the information of stall holders/tenants. This system can help the

administrator and stall holders to easily identify the vacant stall in the mall and market. It

will help the admin to lessen their work for the manual recording of rents took time by

getting the stall holders payment for rent. With the use of this system, it can easily input

records to notify the stall owners about their payment due date and balance of renting and

announcement about the stall management rules and advisory.

This developed system can help the administrator and the stall holders send a text

message to the stall holders about the transaction mode. It notifies the features of the

confirmation of payments, monthly dues and some announcements. The stall holder

information and payments will be stored in the database. Moreover, the developed system

is beneficial to the Victory Mall and Market – Tanauan City for it is such a big help to

have this kind of system which can monitor the information of stall holders, history of

payment transactions and can easily input records to notify the stall owners about the

payment and announcements.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This developed Management and Monitoring System is intended for Victory Mall

and Market Tanauan City Branch aims to ensure the safety and security of the stall

holder’s information and monitoring of available stalls. The study mainly focused on

creating monitoring and viewing of available stalls.

The scope of the developed system includes the aim to help the administrator to

view all the data and information of the stallholders and the available vacant stall, as well

as approve the incoming stall holders. It also aims to provide on time and easy access for

stall holder to choose their place using the developed system making it easier to visit the

stall. The developed system helps the administrator to lessen their errors and loss

document and easily find the vacant stall. More so, it helps the stall holders to update

monthly renting and viewing history transactions and payment. The system has an SMS

notification that is being used for announcements and payment confirmation which can

help the stall holders. Also, the system can be used online to view the available stalls in

real time mapping.

However, the system has its limitation wherein it cannot generate documents such

as rental permit, application forms and others are not included. Other records are

excluded on the system like the income and expenses of the Market or the stall holder.

Definition of Terms

There are some words that the developers used when designing the device that

might be unfamiliar to others. It is required to include an additional description for any

word used by the developers. The terminologies are described both conceptually and

operationally.

Administrator – it refers to a person who is responsible for operating the

computer system. [1] In the developed system, an administrator is the one who can

manage and monitor the information of the stall holders or tenants.

Database – It refers to an organized collection of information or data. [2] In the

developed system, a database is the store of the information in a system.

ISO 9126. It is an international standard for the evaluation of software. The

standard is divided into four parts which addresses, respectively, the following subjects:

quality model; external metrics; internal metrics; and quality in use metrics. (Buenaflor,

2017) [3]. This study aims to achieve some of these standards, which are the system

functionality, reliability, usability, and efficiency.

CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED SYSTEMS

This chapter presents the related systems used as reference in doing this project. It

also includes the technical background to support the requirements needed by the system

and specify its functionalities.

Technical Background

In the developed system, the developers created a stall management and

monitoring system with Stall Mapping and SMS notification for Victory Mall and Market

- Tanauan. The system provides different functionalities including the providing of stall

owner’s information, SMS notification with announcements, and monthly due notices. To

implement the developed system, PHP 7, CSS, JavaScript is used as the programming

language for their front-end, and MySQL for their backend and database. Admin can use

the SMS module that automatically notifies the stall holder’s confirmation of payments

after the transaction. Also, the admin can create a text message in a separate form by

typing it through the message textbox in the SMS module which notifies the stall holders

about the announcements of power interruptions, and others. The developed system is an

online system. The user and the administrator used computer, laptop or mobile phones in

running and using the system.

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

The developers use MySQL as their database for finding the data of the stall

holders, as well as the username and password of the administrator that serve as security

for the users who want to access the system. Also, it helps the system to manage and

monitor all the records data. The data is being secured through the use of MySQL.

Semaphore SMS API is used for the system to send a text message to the stall holders.

Figure 1 shows the system architecture design. The system is connected into a

database wherein the data regarding the administrator is stored. It can provide all the

information of the stall holder. The system has its SMS notification features wherein the

system sends a text message to the stallholder about the announcements and due dates.

Figure 1. System Architecture

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

Related information and ideas are gathered to make the system functional and

successful. The related systems and ideas mentioned serve as guides to meet the system’s

objectives.

Yusof [8] et al. focused on the problems encountered by Malaysia in flat areas

and domestic solid waste disposal which cause pollution. This led to the researchers to

come up with the idea of creating a system that will automatically monitor the garbage

level to each bin and alert the municipality in the case where the bin will be almost full.

The researchers used ultrasonic sensors to detect the level of garbage in each bin, and it

will send this information to the Arduino Uno microcontroller which acts as the system

controller and GSM module. SMS notification or GSM module will generate a warning

message if the bin is already fallen or almost full.

This system is similar to the developed system because both are considered to

lighten the work and to have more convenient days. Also, the studies are similar in using

SMS notification that sends messages or information to the customers. However, the

developed system will use a mapping essential for the customers to easily identify where

the location of a stall is.

Then, Alejandre and De Leon [9] stated that developing a system for Lipa Market

made it the primary concern on the security of the tenant’s information, which in the

current system, is slightly vulnerable to threat and information loss. The developed

10
Republic of the Philippines
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY JPLPC-Malvar
Malvar, Batangas

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

system intended to help the management to easily identify the location of each tenant and

provide the automatic calculation of vacant stalls.

The mentioned system is similar to the developed system since both aim to lessen

paper works and identify where the vacant stall is. The studies differ since the present

study considered a developed system that used a SMS notification that notifies all the

announcements in the stall.

Latag [10] et al. developed a record management system with location mapping

for San Jose Municipal Health Office, to maintain the records in the health office and to

lessen the paper works transaction that includes retrieving medical history of patients and

needed copy. Also, the developed system has a location mapping wherein it easily

monitors the different diseases of the patient per barangay.

The system developed was similar to the developed system because both systems

can record and save the particular information to lessen paper works. Also, both systems

can easily monitor the transaction due to mapping. However, the developed system used

a SMS notification to easily deliver all the information or announcement among

customers.

De Long [11] et al. develops a monitoring system for lessors that deals with a

problem of maintenance and repairs the vehicle. The system will help to improve the

supervision of the vehicles. GPS Global Positioning System Integrated with GIS

Geographic Information System can display the location of the vehicle on the map. The
11
Republic of the Philippines

Malvar, Batangas

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

system can remote monitor and diagnose. Improve the convenience of car maintenance

and reduce cost maintenance.

Both systems are similar in terms of monitoring and eliminating manual processes

at the same time saving and managing records. However, the developed system has SMS

notifications that can notify stall holders about monthly dues, confirm payment and send

announcements. Also, it provides mapping for convenience of both user and admin.

According to Marquez [12] et al. the JL Calingasan Service Center is currently

using the outdated system. The manual data entry is too time consuming and has wasted a

lot of effort in work. As the technology invades the process in business transactions, the

developers decided to develop a Web - based Record Management System for JL

Calingasan Service Center to cope with fast changes in technology. The developed

system is to consider all the benefits that make the business more effective on its daily

operation, through this system they can monitor and maintain the records of all stocks

and customers. This system accurately inputs all the transactions to lessen the work of the

employee.

This system is similar to the developed system since both aim to lighten the work

and to be convenient in accessing all data in all transactions to lessen the work of

employees.

Castillo [13] et al. developed a Record Management System for JRM Dental

Clinic to help the clinic to easily determine the patient record and transaction of payments
12
Republic of the Philippines

Malvar, Batangas

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

and it simplifies that all the records can help users to maximize interaction to provide

better services. The system also improves the JRM dental clinic by the process of

viewing the records, payment module, history of the patients and the appointment

schedule.

The system developed is similar to the developed system because both systems

can minimize all paper works and manual records keepings and it easily determines the

records and transaction of payments. However, the developed system does not have a

SMS notification feature while the developed system has.

Tubongbanua, J. [14] et al. developed a system for Cagayan de Oro Academy for

International Education that will monitor the carrying school transactions. To monitor

and meet the distinct needs and improve the storage and to solve some other challenges.

The developer came up with this idea that provides an online automated system for easy

storage and retrieval of personal information such as enrollment records, class schedules,

grades and student and guardian accounts. It helps the users to provide better service

through online. The system developed in CSS, JavaScript, Hypertext Markup Language,

and PHP and MySQL for the back end.

The system developed is similar to the developed system since both focused on

improvement and modernization of the system. Both systems aim to have convenient

work days. However, the developed system is for stall monitoring that includes the SMS

notification and mapping for the features. Mapping is for the consumer to see what are

13

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

the available stalls and using the SMS notification to notify the customer on the due date

and further announcement.

Manansala and Untalan [15] et al. developed a record management system

intended for the Barangay Itlugan Health Center. This research study aims to help the

Barangay Itlugan by developing a Health Center Record Management System which

makes the recording and retrieving of records and files easier and faster. This system also

managed and carefully preserved patient history and records. The system provides a

quicker and more systematic way to record the medical information of patients. It will

also provide reliable and secured personal medical records and improve the consistency

of the consultation process; and increase the performance of medical personnel through

its features.

Both systems are similar in a way that both are intended to let the system

minimize the time accessing the records. Both systems can manage and give specific data

to the users. However, the developed system has SMS Notification features that help the

stall holder to easily notify the announcements in the stall and the developed system has

no SMS Notification features.

Ifrat [16] et al. developed a Bachelor House Rental Management System for all

the bachelors. This system deals with online house/room/flat rent for all bachelors to find

their desired room for living since most owners feel insecure sometimes to rent a house to

the bachelors. For that reason, tenants have to suffer a lot to find a suitable living area

according to their choice. This aims to make a way to find the desired house with desired

location for the bachelors. This system represents every facility which will provide a

hassle free action. Moreover, everyone can search their desired option from anywhere

through location. It will save valuable time as well as trouble to find a desired option for

bachelors.

This system is related to the developed system because both save a valuable time

to the tenants and to easily find the locations. It will not consume so much time for the

tenants who want to find the stall. However, the developed system has no SMS

Notification while the developed system has.

Hoedi Prasetyo [17] developed a system on Job Shop Manufacturing to monitor

the desired efficiency and productivity of the product. The researcher invented this

system to overcome the manufacturing lead time. This lead time had a big role in this

company.

Both systems use a monitoring system to monitor the production and to monitor

the stalls available. Also, it can save time because this system has a manual monitoring

system which can be a great help for them. However, the developed system has SMS

notification that notifies the stall holders about their dues. Also, it provides mapping for

the convenience of both user and admin.

Irene Balmes [18], designed a system to help the Faculty and Dean because

sometimes the forms are not available so that the submission of day to day monitoring

becomes a problem. By the help of this system, it helps the faculty for an easy and on

time submission of the day to day monitoring. It also aims for the dean to check quickly

and monitor the submitted day to day monitoring form because it is accessible anytime,

anywhere.

However, the developed system helps the admin, dean to monitor available stalls,

and how many are occupied and not. More so, the developed system has SMS

notification that notifies the stall holders about monthly dues.

Elion, Dany and Shuming, [19] conducted a study to develop an optimal crop

irrigation/agriculture system based on a network of wireless sensors. This study helps the

farmers to assess data to calculate humidity, soil temperature for ideal prospect conduct

of crop nourishment.

However, the system of the mentioned researchers is different from the present

system because the former focused on agriculture while the developed system aims to

monitor the available stalls in Victory Mall. It is also a big help for the admin and dean of

the mall. However, the studies differ in terms of the use of the monitoring system

necessary to monitor the needs in their company.

Elyasizadeh [20] focuses on improving the laboratory equipment monitoring

system of Lahti University of applied Sciences (LUAS). It aims to replace the old-

fashioned manual system with a system that is based on new technologies. The main

point of this study is to help the personnel to identify the laboratory equipment for every

loan of equipment in a laboratory session.

However, it differs since the present system created a management monitoring

system that monitors the number of stalls available and occupied while the former aims to

monitor the equipment of every student and personnel.

Maris [21] conducted a study which aims to observe stall warning misses

stemming from three principal causes: aerodynamic icing effects, which reduced the stall

angle-of-attack to below stall warning calibration. Each of these sources of missed stall

warnings could be addressed by Aerodynamic Performance Monitoring (APM).

On the contrary, the developed system wants to monitor the number of stalls

available and those that are occupied. This system allows the admin to locate the number

of available wherein the developed system has SMS notification that notifies the

stallholders about their dues. Meanwhile, the study of Maris wants to have a stall warning

during Airborne Icing Encounters.

Ahmad [22] consists of an IoT enabled device and an android application. It

mainly focuses on dementia patients. The main objective of this system is to help the

person in terms of his/her medication. The application will send a notification when it’s

time to take medicine, the mobile application is used for keeping the record of medical

details and reminding the schedule of medicine.

On the contrary, it has a monitoring system that monitors available and occupied

stalls in the Victory Mall. Both used SMS notifications however the former aims to notify

the medicines needed to take while the SMS notification of the researchers notifies if the

stall holders need to pay their dues.

Bailey D [23] et al. develop a system that deals with the problem and monitor the

livestock motion and location data usually stored on the sensor device. The researchers

designed to improve the livestock grazing distribution can be accurately and cost

effectively monitored with GPS tracking. The GPS tracking collars have become easier to

develop and construct, making them significantly less expensive which will likely

increase their use in livestock grazing. GPS tracking is a practical tool for conducting

studies on extensive and ragged rangeland postures.

The system developed of Baily D et al is similar to the developed system because

both aim to lighten the tasks to be done. It aims to monitor the works and stock using

GPS. However, the developed system wants to monitor the stall and the additional to

make it more convenient for the researcher to use mapping and SMS notification in

notifying due date and further announcements.

Natividad J, and Mendez J [24] et al. developed a system for particular

municipalities near the Cagayan River, Province of Isabela. The researcher developed a

system that answer the problem of the communities to create a flood monitoring system

that monitor the water level of the river using ultrasonic sensor and to design the develop

an early warning system GSM module sent an alert message or water level status to

another GSM modem connected GSM module to a computer server. Also developed

programs will then automatically relay the alert message or status by uploading to the

developed website. The programming language used PHP 7 and MySQL for databases to

store information uploaded by the SMS notification system.

The mentioned system is similar to the developed system since both aim to give

convenience in every work day and monitor the use of SMS notification for the due date

of the stalls, and use a mapping to see the available stall.

Zhoujing Ye [25] et al. (2021) developed a system to improve the durability and

efficiency of the road-embedded monitoring system. This developed system is based on

the internet of things (IoT). It includes multi-acceleration sensing nodes, a gateway, and a

cloud platform. This system characterized by lower power consumption, distributed

computing, and high extensibility properties, the pavement vibration IoT monitoring

system can realize the monitoring, transmission, and acquires the real time traffic

information.

Both systems differ from each other because the former focuses on roads which

improves the intellectual capacity of road infrastructure and is conducive to the

construction of a new generation of smart roads. Meanwhile, the developed system of the

researchers deals with the management monitoring system of the Victory Mall. Also, this

system has SMS notification that notifies the stall holders about their dues.

Rahim, S. [26] et al. designed a system that monitors student absenteeism and

improving and recording student attendance record, sending automatic alerts SMS

notification and email is used to alert the students. The developer came up with this idea

that significant amounts of time can be saved. The researchers developed web based

attendance using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This will help the

lectures or teachers to easily monitor the attendance of the student online and improve the

quality of teaching. Also developers use MS Visual Basic 2012 and MS Access for data,

MS Excel were done.

The mentioned system is similar to the developed system because both used SMS

notification to notify the consumers and monitor the works. However, the developed

system uses a mapping to see the number of available stalls. Also, the developed systems

used a PHP 7 as a programming language.

Khaleeq, K. [27] et al. developed a system that deals with the critical issues. The

researchers introduce a cost-effective water quality monitoring system using the

conventional sensor and WIFI network. The researchers developed a software that

monitors, controls and records the quality data. The researchers integrate sensors,

transmitter, microcontroller and IEEE 802.11 WIFI technology. The system also supports

24 hours real-time water quality monitoring. The system can be controlled by the user

through the internet.

This system is similar to the developed system because both have similarities in

terms of monitoring. Both systems want to improve the function in monitoring to make it

more convenient and faster in the transaction to the consumers. However, the former did

not include the SMS notification and mapping while the developed system includes a

SMS notification to notify the customer on the due date and also includes the mapping

for the consumer to see the available stalls. Also, the developed system deals with stall

CHAPTER 3

DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the designs and methodologies used in developing the

system. Different diagrams applied are included. Also, this chapter explains the type of

research that the study is focusing on, as well as how it is related to the system

development.

Data Gathering

This system was developed for the administrators and stall holders of Victory

Mall and Market to have a more convenient way of negotiating about the certain issues of

the establishment. Qualitative research was used by the developers as a method of data

gathering for the system. With this, a qualitative method was used primarily to gain

understanding to obtain information. It involves interviews online or oral with clients.

The data running in the developed system came from the records of the administrator of

the Victory Mall and Market. This information helped the developers to create the

structure of the system and its effectiveness.

Project Concept

The developers decided to make this management and monitoring system to

easily understand where and what are the available stalls. The main purpose of the

developers was to provide a friendly system wherein the stallholders will receive an SMS

notification and announcement about power interruption and it also notifies stallholders

22
Republic of the Philippines
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY JPLPC-Malvar

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

on their dues. The developers saw that the monitoring system of Victory Mall and Market

was considered a manual approach and this management and monitoring system was

developed in order for the admin to easily find available stalls. Through this system, the

admin can easily find available stalls and the stallholders can easily be notified about

their dues. Some of the design of developers was based on the client designs and the

admin of Victory Mall and Market which helps the developers to develop the website

based on their demand and discuss the information that can be displayed on the system.

System Analysis and Design

In developing a system, System Analysis and Design are required to understand

how system elements work. It is significant for the improvement of the system. By

system analysis and design, the developers may revise some system’s parts for a better

system. In any software development project, a methodology should be followed to

ensure project consistency and completeness. The method of Web Development Life

Cycle (WDLC) is used in the system development. This helps in conducting the process

in developing the system.

System Analysis and Design was applied to all aspects of the developed system

onward with the ways to gather information about the function of its parts. Specifically,

system analysis is a technique to analyze the system in order to identify its goal and

purposes. The design implementation was used in the developed system to improve it.

Figure 2 illustrates the representation of the administrator of the system. First, the

administrator can manage the whole system and the account of stall holders. Also, the

administrator can register a person who wants to rent a stall. Also, the administrator can

create an account for the stall holders of Victory Mall and Market - Tanauan. Aside from

this, the administrator is the one receiving the payment from the stall holders and mostly

uses the system. The system has an SMS notification feature wherein the system sends a

text message to the stall holders about the confirmation of payment paid or unpaid. More

so, the stall holders will receive a text message about the confirmation of payments, due

dates and announcements if there is an incoming power interruption or any

announcements from the office of Victory Mall and Market - Tanauan.

deny the user access. Further, the administrator can create an account for the tenant of

Victory Mall and Market Tanauan City Branch and the administrator can register the

person who wants to rent in the stall. The administrator can view all the accounts in the

system. After the administrator creates an account for stall holders, the data is stored in

the database. Also, the administrator can view the stall holder’s information and the

status of the stall. The administrator sends a text message using the SMS notification to

the stall holders about the announcement of power interruption or other notice from the

Victory Mall and Market office.

Development Method

The first part of the cycle is planning which involves the thinking about the

system needed to maintain high quality of work. In this phase, it includes the information

of the user. Then, the second part of the cycle is analysis, wherein this phase includes the

analysis of the problems faced by the stall holders and admin of the Victory Mall and

Market -Tanauan. Also, this phase discusses the overall process and requirement of the

system development. Next, the third phase of the cycle deals with the design and

development of the system. An appropriate design for the system should be considered.

Meanwhile, the fourth includes the testing part where checking all the functions in the

system if it is running correctly. Also, checking all the information needed in the system

is part of this phase. More so, the fifth is released wherein if there's nothing wrong in the

system, it can be released. In this phase, it includes the concept when there is something

that needs to change or remove. The last part of the cycle is maintenance which

implements and enhances making the system more responsive. If there is a problem that

the clients encounter, the developers may do their job to fix it.

Development Approach

It illustrates the top-down approach. The first phase is planning which allows the

developers to provide their own idea about the system to be developed. Then, the second

phase is analysis, in which the project must validate the plan and confirm that the system

is usable and relevant to the essential needs of the client. Lastly, the third phase is the

system design which involves the design and accessibility of the system. After all these

phases, the developed system will be implemented to the administration of Victory Mall

and Market Office Tanauan City.

Software Requirements

The software requirements used in the developed system are Windows 7 or up,

Linux, Mac OS or any browser for the operating system because this is considered as the

most compatible among the applications used, PHP 7, CSS, JavaScript for the

programming language and MySQL for the database. Table 5 illustrates the software

Software Development Tools

The system is developed to help the users provide their needed information which

benefits the administrator and stall holders. PHP 7, CCS, JavaScript is used as the

programming language since the developed project is a management and monitoring

system. Aside from this, MySQL is a relational database management system based on

the structure query language for the designing and front end of the system. The

developers use PHP 7, CSS, JavaScript as their programming language and MySQL for

the database.

Testing and Evaluation

Testing and evaluation are two of the most important phases in developing a

system. Testing is a level of software testing where complete and integrated software is

tested. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the system compliance with the specified

requirements. Also, it is important to use in order to measure the effectiveness of the

42
Republic of the Philippines
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY JPLPC-Malvar
Malvar, Batangas

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

system and to provide expectations of the user at the same time to assure the quality of

the system. In testing and developing the system, the developers use the test cases with

the criteria that will measure the components. The developers consider using the unit

testing to validate if the objectives were by the project.

Method Testing

The method of testing to be used is important to know and determine the possible

error or problem in the system during the development process. It is a big help for the

programmers to use this method because it will improve and make revision on the

system. The developers used Black box testing to test the system. This Black box testing

is a testing strategy in which the internal structure, design, and implementation of the

item being tested is not known by the tester. This method is named because the software

program in the eyes of the tester is like black box inside, which one cannot see. This

method is a big help for the developers because it attempts to find errors like incorrect or

missing functions, errors in data structure.

System Evaluation

Associated with the above testing method, the developers system will use a test

case to evaluate such. To test and evaluate the system, ISO 9126 quality metrics were

used in terms of reliability, functionality, usability and efficiency which were considered

in evaluation. Reliability refers to the set of attributes that bear on the capability of the

software, and to maintain the level of performance. Meanwhile, functionality refers to a

43
Republic of the Philippines
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY JPLPC-Malvar
Malvar, Batangas

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

set of attributes that bear on the existence of a set of features and specified properties.

Then, usability specifies how the specific user can use it. Lastly, efficiency refers to the

set of attributes that bears on the relationship between the peak level of performance of

the software and the amount of resources used.

The table illustrates the Likert Scale, which depicts the questionnaire's rating

scale for how the user would rank the system in each statement in each category. This

approach is used by the developers to rate the system that they offered to the responders.

The rater must assign a value to the scale in this way. It consists of five ratings: 1 is

strongly disagree, 2 is disagree, 3 is fair, 4 is agree, and 5 is strongly agree. These are the

ratings that new respondents will input to the questionnaire about the developed system's

survey. With this information, the developers will be able to determine whether the

selected correspondents are satisfied with the questionnaire that was given to them.

Table 7

The survey result has been interpreted in a variety of ways by the developers. The

range of the comparable verbal interpretation is shown in Table 8. It can be gleaned that

the survey's highest interpretation is 4.50–5.00, which indicates strongly agree in the

given aspect, while lowest is 1.00–1.49 indicates strongly disagree.

Table 8
Rating Range of Verbal Interpretation

3.50 – 4.49 Agree
2.50 – 3.49 Uncertain
1.50 – 2.49 Disagree
1.00 – 1.49 Strongly Disagree

Test Case

The developers used a test case in conducting results to determine that the

features perform as expected. Test case is a set of test inputs, execution and expected

results made with particular objectives. It refers to the set of questions being asked about

the system. This will help the developer to identify if the system will pass or fail. Each

test should score 100% to consider passing rate which means that the system function

works according to what the user expects. On the other hand, if the results are less

45

Malvar, Batangas

COLLEGE OF INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES

than100%, it is considered a failure. To achieve this, the developer distributed a set of test

cases to 2 possible users who were given access to the system.

Table 9 shows the test cases for the administrator. The administrator needs login

to the system and management of stall information, and where the data is saved in a

database. Next is the stall holder creation where the administrator can create accounts for

stall holders. History of payment helps the users to view when stallholder payment is

made. More so, SMS notification helps the users to notify the stall holders about

payments made and announcements of the establishments, generating reports for the

administrator. Lastly, viewing available stalls is present which help to easily identify the

available areas.

CHAPTER 4
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
This chapter explains and demonstrates the system development process including

the screen shots, evaluation results, and observation about the developed software. It

contains the actual and honest observations of the developers and the user regarding the

functions of the software. The following shows how the developers met their objectives.

STALL MANAGEMENT AND MONITORING SYSTEM FOR VICTORY

MALL TANAUAN CITY BRANCH
The system developed for Victory Mall and Market lessens document loss and

sought to have faster communication. The system can view the map of the stall and

location using the directory module. The administrator can manage stall information and

can easily view all the vacant and occupied stalls and also manage the account of tenants.

This system can manage all the data inputted on it and can record and save information. It

also helps the administrator to view the history of payment made by tenants and can view

active/inactive tenants as well as delinquent tenants. The developed system has SMS

notification features that help the administrator to notify tenants about the due of the

payments as well as power interruption and other issues in the market. In the report

module, this will help the administrator to have a complete list of active and inactive

tenants, delinquent tenants and the location of the tenants.
