PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROL (PLC)

TIMER

DISCUSSION

Timer ON Delay
When the timer input bit (IN) receives power, the TON instruction adds
the preset time (PT), in milliseconds, and the timer output bit (Q) turns
ON.

Timer OFF Delay

When the timer input bit (IN) stops receiving power, the TOF instruction
adds the preset time (PT), in milliseconds, and the timer output bit (Q)
turns OFF.
Perform the following ladder diagrams given below and observe the behaviour of the given circuits
below.

RUN 1: TIMER ON DELAY CIRCUIT

OBSERVATION:

We can say that in Timer On Delay with a specific time that was set, this is the only time the contacts
work and will allow the current to flow to the load

RUN 2: TIMER OFF DELAY CIRCUIT

OBSERVATION:

Based on what I observed, we can say that in Timer Off Delay, even if the source were disconnected
the timer will still provide the contacts to reach the load.

CONCLUSION:

I, therefore conclude that using a Timer Delay in a circuit to avoid over current and overload
depending to the motor because there were some that pulls a large amount of voltage per starting
for example.
