1. Bourdon Type

 C Type

Advantages

- It is available in wide range

- It has long life
- It cost is low
- Time tested application
- Accuracy is high
Disadvantages
- Susceptibility to hysteresis
- Low spring gradient
- Susceptibility to shock and vibrations

 Spiral

Advantages

- Increased accuracy and sensitivity

- Higher overrange protection
Disadvantages
- Very expensive

 Helix

Advantages

- It is available in wide range

- It has long life
Disadvantages
- Responds slowly to changes in pressure

2. Diaphragm

Advantages
- Excellent load performance
- Linearity
- Suitable for measuring absolute pressure, differential pressure
- Small size, affordable
Disadvantages
- Seismic, impact resistance is not good
- Difficulty in maintenance
- Lower measurement pressure
3. Capsule

Advantages

- Measure rate changes can be viewed from long distances

- No power required
Disadvantages
- Not suitable for applications with liquid media

4. Bellows

Advantages

- Low cost
- Provides excellent pressure measurement for low to moderate pressure ranges
Disadvantages
- It is not useful to measure high value pressure
- Bellows joints can fail catastrophically
- No in place maintenance or repair can be performed – they must be replaced if damaged

5. Pressure Springs

Advantages
- Returning the Component to Its Desired Position
- Providing Consistent Pressure
Disadvantages
- Conical springs are costly
- If a spring is left compressed for extended period then it leads to weakening of spring
- As the time passes spring loses its shape as well as stability
