Measurement of pressure

 The pressure of a fluid is measured by the

following devices:-
 Manometer
 Mechanical guages
MANOMETER

 Manometer are defined as the devices used for

measuring the pressure at a point in a fluid by
balancing the column of fluid by the same or
another column of the fluid . they are classified
as:
 Simple manometer
 differential manometer
SIMPLE MANOMETER

Types of simple manometer:

1.Piezometer
2.u-tube manometer
3.Single column manometer

MECHANICAL GAUGES

 Mechanical gauges are defined as the devices

used for measuring the pressure by balancing the
fluid column by the spring or dead weight . The
commonly used mechanical pressure gauges are:
 Diaphragm pressure guage,
 Bourdon tube pressure guage,
 Dead weight pressure guage , and
 Bellows pressure guage.
Diaphragm pressure measurement

A diaphragm pressure gauge, also known as a

membrane pressure gauge, is a device that
utilizes the deflection of a flexible thin membrane
called the 'diaphragm' to measure the pressure of
the fluid in a system.
BOURDON TUBE PRESSURE GUAGE

 A bourdon tube pressure gauge is a

mechanical pressure measuring instrument that
reads the pressure without requiring any
electrical power. It is generally used for the
measurement of pressure from 0.6 to 7000 bar (8
to 10000 psi).
DEAD WEIGHT PRESSURE GUAGE

 A deadweight tester is a calibration standard

that uses the principle of a pressure balance to
calibrate pressure measuring instruments.
Deadweight testers use calibrated weights to
apply known pressures to a device under test
for a simple and cost-effective solution that
covers a wide range of pressure calibrations.
BELLOWS PRESSURE GUAGE

Bellows pressure gauges are devices used to

measure absolute and differential pressure. ... In
order to have sufficient surface area for the
pressure to act on, a larger diameter is selected
for the measurement of very low pressures.
