REFLECTION

On January 31, 2022, the Guidance Office of the College of Teacher Education

conducted a webinar titled "Personality and Capability Enhancement Webinar for

Pre-Service Teachers." In preparation for our internship this semester, I've learnt a

lot of new stuff.

Mrs. Karen Joy Talidong, Ph.D. presented the first topic, "Working with Ethics in the

Workplace" (Duties and Responsibilities of an Intern). Work Ethics and Its

Characteristics was one of the topics I studied. Work ethics, according to Othman

(2014), are characteristics that influence the value of work, personal characteristics,

and worker performance in the modern world. To perform well at work, a worker

must conform to a set of standards and conventions (Alfi, 2011). The two categories

of work ethics are personal and situational work ethics. Sincerity, respect for the

task, regularity, timeliness, and seriousness are all examples of personal ethics.

Meanwhile, occupational ethics include keeping sensitive information discreet,

maintaining cordial relationships with students and teachers, and being willing to

take on new duties. I've also learned that there are specific work ethics that must be
followed during my teaching internship. Character, teamwork, looks, attitude,

productivity, organizational talents, communication skills, collaboration, and respect

are all significant considerations. The topic that has sparked my curiosity the most is

why teaching internship is so important. I've also learnt about the four phases of a

teaching internship. Orientation sessions make up the first half of the program.

Phase 2 includes observation and the creation of relationships with the cooperating

teacher, students, and other teaching assistants. Throughout phase three, practicing

instructors construct lesson plans, instructional materials, and practice daily teaching

activities on-site. Departure papers, assessment forms, and exit clearance are all

completed in Phase 4.
The second topic, Classroom Assessment in Kto12 Curriculum, was addressed by

Dr. Eric R. Balancio. Among the things I learnt about were DepED Orders 8, 2015,

and 31, 2020, Principles of Assessment, and Assessment Components per Learning

Area for Grades 1 to 10 and Senior High School. When teaching and grading

students, I've learned that a teacher should take into account the diversity of the

students. The first principle is that assessment must be in accordance with students'

educational needs. Second, pupils must be scaffolded in summative evaluation

through formative assessment. The next step is to make evaluation more similar to

instruction. According to the fourth assumption, teachers should use assessment

data to assist pupils learn more effectively. The fifth principle is that evaluation

should never be used to intimidate or force pupils to do anything they don't want to

do. The sixth premise is that a teacher must engage in a PLC in order to enhance

assessment. Last but not least, assessment is a technical ability. I've also come to

appreciate the importance of a well-written assessment. According to the speaker, a

quality evaluation considers a reasonable amount of time pressure, the point value of

different types of questions, difficulty, and the appropriateness of the language used

in the questions. Formative assessment is neither a tool nor a technique. It is not

used for grading or as a form of punishment for misbehaving students. Formative

Assessment is a set of activities that all contribute to a student's learning progress.

It's a tool that teachers may use to determine what they need to do to help their kids’

progress.
Sir Eric R. Balancio, Ed.D. delivered the third topic, which was about filling out

DepEd Forms. I discovered that there are fifteen School Forms from this topic. The

School Form 1, commonly known as the School Register, is the first. This form

contains a list of students who are officially enrolled and attending classes. The

Learner Daily Attendance Report is the second form. It's just adjacent to School

Form 3, Books Issued and Returned. One of them is a list of books and other

reading materials sent to pupils and returned to the issuing authority. The Monthly

Learner Movement and Attendance Report is School Form Four. The total number of

students that entered and exited the school throughout the month is represented by

this statistic. The Promotion and Level of Proficiency Report is the fifth report, and it

offers a summary of the learner's academic achievement and assessment results at

the conclusion of the school year. The summary report on promotion and proficiency

level is located next to it. The number of students at the conclusion of the semester

or school year is summarized below. For school staff, the seventh form is the basic

profile and assignment list. The eighth form is the Learner's Basic Health and

Nutrition Report. Another is the Learner's Progress Report Card. Last is the learner's

permanent academic record which is the School Form 10.

The fourth topic, personality development, was presented by Prof. Mary Grace

Gallego, Ph.D. This is a critical topic for me since, as future educators, we must be

conscious of our personalities, which serve as the fundamental potential that defines

one's success in life and work. I've discovered that our genes, environment, and

situation are the three most important components in the development of our

personalities. Our personality is influenced by the environment in which we live.

Personal growth is also crucial since it encourages a person to grow and make their

own impression. It also aids in the reduction of stress and conflict. Personal growth

can also assist you in maintaining a happy outlook on life. Being upbeat promotes

mental health, which has an influence on how we interact with coworkers. It also

assists in the development of desirable characteristics such as punctuality,

adaptability, learning readiness, kindness, and enthusiasm to help others. We will be

successful in our chosen job if we can develop our personality. It will help individuals

and the country as a whole flourish. . In front of others, we should constantly show

oneself in a professional manner. Being soft-spoken is one of the most significant

skills. We shouldn't always be on the lookout for defects in individuals. When there is

an issue, we should not place blame on one another. We must let rid of our egos.

Another issue that was emphasized was the importance of not backbiting. People's

relationships are as a result unhealthy. Another alternative is to assist others. This

emphasizes the need of not constantly thinking about people's well-being. Last but

not least, a nice personality needs self-assurance.

The third topic, Pedagogy in the Twenty-First Century Content and Process, was

presented by Ma'am Cherrylou B. Magbanua, Ph.D.

Pedagogy, according to Oxford Languages, refers to the technique and practice of

teaching, notably as an academic topic, as well as the instructor's feedback and

assessment of his or her pupils. Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory was

one example provided. Linguistic, logical/mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic,

musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist intelligence are the eight types of

intelligence, according to him. This means that in a classroom, there will be a variety

of students with different learning styles, necessitating the use of integrative teaching

methods and approaches. I've also learnt about 21st century skills, which are the

information, life and job skills, habits, and attitudes necessary for student success in

today's culture, particularly as they progress through college, the workforce, and

adulthood. For today's students, critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning,

creativity, curiosity, oral and written communication skills, leadership and teamwork,

and, of course, ICT literacy, media and internet literacy, data interpretation and

analysis, and programming are all required 21st century skills. Overall, I've learned

that a successful teacher must have a system that caters to a range of learners in

order to maximize each student's potential and equip them to cope with the current

world and compete worldwide.
