Winter Storm Expected Tonight - Friday
• Snow amounts will be highly Snow Totals Through Friday
dependent on the track of the
system due to a potential for
mixed precipitation.

• The greatest chance for heavier


snow accumulation is to the east
of I-81 and north of NYS-17, while
sleet and freezing rain on Friday
morning may limit the snow
accumulation elsewhere outside
the Finger Lakes.

• No matter the amounts, this


winter event will make travel
hazardous during the Friday
morning commute.

Event Summary

 An impactful winter storm arrives tonight, bringing snow and mixed precipitation into Friday.

 Heavy snow looks most likely across eastern portions of Central NY. Snow totals are expected
to be highly dependent on the track of the storm which may cause a wintry mix of sleet and
freezing rain to develop from the Twin Tiers through Northeast PA.

 Snowfall rates are forecast to reach around 1 to 1.5” per hour across parts of Central NY,
mainly in the 4 AM to 10 AM Friday time range.

 The snow will taper off and end from west to east Friday afternoon

 Temperatures will be mainly in the 20s through the event; rising into the low to mid-30s
Friday afternoon across the Twin Tiers and Northeast PA

 Northeast winds 8-15 mph with some gusts around 20 mph tonight – Friday
