1.

(A+B+C)'s 1 day's work=1/4

A's 1 day's work=1/6
B's 1 day's work=1/12

∴C's 1 day's work=1/4−(1/6+1/12)=14−748=5/48

So, C alone can do the work in 48/5days

2. Ratio of times taken by A and B =1:3

The time difference is (3−1)2 days while B takes 3 days and A takes 1 day.
If difference of time is 2 days, B takes 3 days.
If difference of time is  60 days, B takes (3/2×60)=90 days.
So, A takes 30 days to do the work.
A's 1 day's work = 1/30
B's 1 day's work =1/90
(A+B)'s 1 day's work =(1/30 + 1/90)= 2/45
∴ A and B can do the work in 22.5 days

3. Given that
6 men and 8 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days
26 men and 48 boys can do the same in 2 days

As the work done is equal,
10(6M + 8B) = 2(26M + 48B)
60M + 80B = 52M + 96B
=> M = 2B
=> B = M/2 ……(1)

Now Put (1) in 15M + 20B
=> 15M + 10M = 25M
Now, 6M + 8B in 10 days
=> (6M + 4M) 10 = 100M
Then D(25M) = 100M
=> D = 4 days.

4. (A + B)'s 1 day's work = 1/10

 C's 1 day's work = 1/50
(A + B + C)'s 1 day's work = 1/10 +1/50= 3/25 . .... (i)

 A's 1 day's work = (B + C)'s 1 day's work .... (ii)

 From (i) and (ii) we get:
2 x (A's 1 day's work) = 3/25
A's 1 day's work = 3/50
.
B's 1 day's work = 1/10 – 3/50 = 1/25
So B alone could do the work in 25 days.
5. Let 1 man's 1 day's work = x
And, 1 woman's 1 day's work = y.
Then, 4x + 6y = 1/8
and 3x + 7y = 1/10
Solving the two equations, we get: x = 11/400, y = 1/400
1 woman's 1 day's work = 1/400
10 women's 1 day's work = (1/400)*10 = 1/40
Hence, 10 women will complete the work in 40 days

6. P alone = 12 days *8 hours = 96 man hours

Q alone = 8 days*10 hours = 80 man hours
So together in 1 hour they finish (1/96 +1/80) of the work
Together in 8 hours they finish 8/96 +8/80 = 1/12 +1/10= 11/60 in 1 day
So work will finish in 60/11 = 5.45 days

7. Given, X and Y can do a piece of work in 20 days and 12 days respectively.

=> The amount of work done by X alone in one day = 1/20
=> The amount of work done by Y alone in one day = 1/12
=> The total work done X & Y together in one day = 1/20 + 1/12
= (3+5)/60 = 8/60 = 2/15
Given X worked alone for 4 days,
=> The work done in this period = 4 * 1/20 = 1/5
=> Work remaining to be completed = 1 - 1/5 = 4/5
Later, Y joined him until the completion of the work.
=> Remaining is completed by X & Y together.
=> The number of days to complete the work = (4/5)/(2/15)
= 4/5 * 15/2 =2 * 3 = 6
=> The complete work lasted for, 4 + 6 = 10 days.

8. Ravi works at the rate of = 32/6 = 16/3 pages per hour.

Similarly, Kumar works at the rate of = 40/5 = 8 pages per hour.
When they work together, the total rate becomes = (16/3) + 8 = 40/3 pages per hour.
For 110 pages, they would thus need = 110/(40/3) = 33/4 = 8.25 hours OR 8 hours 15mins.

9. Ratio of times taken by Sakshi and Tanya

= 125 : 100
=5:4
Suppose Tanya takes x days to do the work
5 : 4 :: 20 : x
⇒
x=(4×20)/5

⇒ x = 16 days
Hence, Tanya takes 16 days to complete the work
10. A and B can complete a work in 15 days and 10 days respectively.
=> The amount of work done by them together in 1 day = 1/15 + 1/10 = 1/6
Given, they worked together for 2 days.
=> The amount of work done by them together = 2*(1/6) = 1/3
The amount of work to be completed by A alone = 1 - 1/3 = 2/3
The number of days taken by A alone to complete the remaining work = (2/3)/(1/15) = 30/3
= 10
=> The whole work was completed in (2+10) i.e., 12 days.

11. If A works twice as fast as B then he do the work in half the time B take which is 12 days,
so A can complete the work in 6 days.
In one day B can do 1/12 of the work
Therefore in one day A can do 1/6 of the work so together in one day they can do=
1/12+1/6=3/12=1/4
Thus, both can together complete the work in 4 days

12. A can complete work in 9 days.

So, percentage of work A completes in one day = 100/9 = 11.11%.
B can complete work in 12 days.
B's one day work = 100/12 = 8.33%.
A and B together can complete = 11.11 +8.33 = 19.44% of work in one day.
Now,
Take 2 days = 1 unit of time (one day of A and one of B).
In one unit of time A and B can complete work = 19.44% work.
Total time unit they need to complete whole work = 100/(19.44) = 5 time unit aprox.
Thus, Total time = 5 time unit = 5 *2 = 10 days.

13.  B's daily earning = Rs. (150 - 94) = Rs. 56

⇒ A's daily earning = Rs. (150 - 76) = Rs. 74
∴ C's daily earning = Rs. [(150 - (56 + 74)] = Rs. 20

14. Rate at which A can do work (Work done in a day) is 1/24

Rate of B is 1/9 and Rate of C is 1/12
When B and C work together, their rates add up or 1/9 + 1/12
In 3 days they would complete 3 *(1/9 + 1/12) = 1/3 + 1/4 = 7/12th of the work.
Remaining portion of work is 5/12.
Since A’s rate is 1/24. A would take (5/12)/(1/24) = 10 days to complete the remaining work.

15. This question is equivalent to saying A & B work together for 16 days completing 16/30
part of work.
Remaining 14/30 part of work is completed by B alone in = 44 - 16 = 28 days.
=> B alone can complete work in 28 x 30/14 = 60 days.
