TO THE ISLAND
Naifaru Island is known as one of the most
populated small island in Maldives, and is
more of a town island than a fishing or
agricultural village island. More of a bus-
tling community including a local bank, post
office, School, Hospital and a selection of

TOWN OF NAIFARU local restaurants and cafés.

Explore the winding streets and the people of the


island, known to be lounging around the beach sides
and small alcoves. The people of Naifaru are known
among the nation for their distinctly strong dialect,
manner of speech and sounds of local music and sights
of smiling friendly faces which is common. The Island has
some souvenir shops as well as basic local shops to
explore and browse. It is also a great opportunity for
you to visit the turtle conservation center

KURENDHOO ISLAND

Situated on the south-western coast of the Atoll, Kurendhoo is known to have had settlement
as early as the Buddhist period in Maldivian history predominantly used as an agricultural
island due to the under soil being made of a very hard sedimentary layer of sand stone
which holds moisture which had facilitated the composting of buried vegetable evidence that
suggest various gardens in other nearby islands, and were renowned for their shallots.

Kurendhoo island is also known for the tomb


of Sheikh Najeebul Habashee; a royal cleric
who recited Quaran and other prayers in the
royal palace. The tomb is built on the very
spot where he died and was buried, and is
an attration to many locals and tourists.
