Glasgow rallies back for third place, headed for Cut Bank
By Mike Brandt
They wanted to play for the championship and
have another shot at Malta. But when it comes to
tournaments anything can happen. Glasgow found
that out when the Scotties hosted the District 2B
girls basketball tournament last weekend.
Glasgow (14-7) lost its first round game but
rallied back through the loser out bracket to finish
third. Malta defeated Wolf Point 51-43 for the
championship. The Scotties had set their sights
on the championship but a first round loss at the
hands of Wolf Point dashed those dreams away with
a 50-45 win Thursday. The Scotties battled back to
eliminate Poplar, 59-16 and whipped Harlem 67-25
to finish third.
Harlem was missing Lataya Trottier, who was
injured in a game against Malta Friday. Without
their leading scorer the Wildcats couldn’t run their
offense. That gave Glasgow the advantage as the
Scotties ran out to a 14-1 first quarter lead and led
26-5 after Tyann Graham scored on a pair of free
throws. The senior also had a bucket prior to the
throws. Glasgow had just completed a 10-0 run
for the 21-point lead. The Scotties led 32-14 at the
break.
