Chemical or Physical Change?
The teacher will show pictures and the student will identify what kind of change
occurs by answering Physical or Chemical Change.

1. Spoilage of banana 2. Rusting of iron

3. Shredding of paper 4. Melting of ice cream

5. Digestion of food

The teacher will present pictures relevant to the different factors affecting rate of
reaction. Each group, using their android phones or computer, will identify and
sort each picture to the respective quadrant or word that best describes them.

A. ACTIVITY

To find out whether their answer is correct or not, the teacher will use these
pictures in explaining the lesson.
Students will later explain their sorting of pictures.
1. How will you relate activation energy to chemical reaction?
B. ANALYSIS 2. How will you relate temperature to chemical reaction?
3. How will you relate concentration to chemical reaction?
4. How will you relate surface area to chemical reaction?
The reaction rate reaction is a measurement of the increase in the concentration
of a product or the decrease in the concentration of a reactant as the reaction
proceeds over time. The factors affecting rate of reaction are: activation of a
chemical energy, temperature, concentration, and particle size.
1. Activation energy - The activation energy refers to the minimum energy
required for a reaction to take place. When a collision provides energy equal to or
greater than the activation energy, product can form. If less than, no reaction will
1. ABSTRACTION occur.
2. Temperature - Temperature refers to how hot or cold a certain substance is.
Increased kinetic energy will equal to or exceed the activation energy resulting to
more collisions giving rise to a reaction.
3. Concentration - The term concentration refers to the number of particles
present in a given volume of solution.
4. Particle size – In a reaction between a solid and a liquid, the more finely divided
a solid is, the faster is the rate of reaction.
2. APPLICATION RELATING FACTORS AFFECTING REACTION RATE AND COVID 19

Which utensil is safer for public use? Why? (TEMPERATURE)

Given the two scenarios, where do you think you’ll be more exposed to COVID-19?
Why? (CONCENTRATION)

In this scenario, which one will give you more protection against COVID-19? Why?
(PARTICLE SIZE)
