Success Path Exercise
The Client Success Path and Journey of Transformation: When you take a 50,000-foot
perspective of the client journey, there are common steps that must be completed in order to
experience transformation in the area you work in. When you can first identify the Success Path
of their journey, you can then help them get clear and easily map out a plan of success when
they start working with you. This can typically be outlined in 3-5 steps.

The Power of Having A List
‘‘What got you here won’t get you there!’’ These were powerful words a colleague once said to
me that have forever had me re-thinking about how I organize, structure, and manage my business.

The same is true for your list, your collection of contacts. What you once did when you first
started your business is not the same thing you can keep doing to grow your business and create
sustainable, scalable income.

THE ACTIONS OF THE HOBBYIST:


Has no organized list.
Has a collection of business cards collecting dust on the corner of the desk.
Talks to people sporadically, here and there.
If someone is interested in their services or they get a referral, they follow up with them...
once.
Generates feast to famine revenue (but it’s okay, because it’s just a hobby).
Focuses their time on reinventing the wheel every time they need to find new leads.

THE ACTIONS OF THE BUSINESS OWNER:


Maintains an organized collection of contacts to make it easy to build relationships and the
KLT factor.
Consistently generates awareness to reach new people.
Schedules automated follow-up to free up their time.

When you’re not getting results, the best approach to course correct is to break your list-
building funnel into components and review the metrics individually:

Adjust your subject line to evoke more curiosity.

IF YOU’RE NOT GETTING CLICK-THROUGHS FROM YOUR EMAILS:


Re-visit the copy inside your email message or the in-person conversations you’re having to
be sure they are relevant to the URGENT challenges your target market needs addressing.

IF YOUR LEAD MAGNET IS NOT GETTING NAMES ON YOUR LIST:


Do you have an effective Result-Based Title that uses the words/phrases of your target
market?

Is the messaging on your Opt In Page in alignment with the way the lead magnet is being
presented in your online campaigns or in person conversations?
