Diplomacy

What is Diplomacy?

Diplomacy is the foreign policy activity of a subject of international law, carried out by organs and persons
duly representative of that subject, before one or more other subjects of international law in order to
achieve, maintain or strengthen peace through negotiation; its ultimate purpose must be to make
possible, through such means, the construction or existence of a just international community that,
through cooperation, allows the full development of peoples.

Important events in Diplomacy

Many political crises were solved thanks to Diplomacy, professionals specialized in this area become
agents of change that help to solve important political crises, what most caught my attention was the
story of a Peruvian diplomat his name is Alvaro de Soto from the UN who worked on various issues
of International Relations for 25 years and who is remembered for being a key player in the
construction of peace in El Salvador and Central America.
Soto was the Secretary General's personal representative for the peace process in Central America
and headed a working team that included diplomats from countries such as Mexico, Panama and
Venezuela. The rounds of work between the conflicting parties and the mediators, including Alvaro
de Soto, were lengthy and took place in Mexico City and New York. Soto's work demonstrated that
knowledge, preparation and his extensive experience in diplomatic and international relations matters
is the best way to achieve important advances in human rights, security, justice, land ownership,
reparations and verification of the ceasefire.
My opinion about Diplomacy

Diplomacy is very important today and over the years has evolved, for me diplomacy is the set of
actions that are carried out between States and their representatives, in the context of international
relations, the importance of this is that relations with other countries can help develop business, The
importance of this lies in the fact that relations with other countries can help to develop business,
establish agreements and peaceful procedures between countries, hence the great importance of
diplomacy in all countries and the great role that diplomats have in this, today there are major
agreements on the environment and how to reduce the greenhouse effect this is not only between
countries but also between organizations or agencies.
