 WOMEN’S SAFETY APP USING ANDROID
1.0] BRIEF INTRODUCTION

In today's world, people using smart phones have increased rapidly and hence, a smart phone can
be used efficiently for personal security or various other protection purposes. The heinous incident
that outraged the entire nation have waken us to go for the safety issues and so a host of new apps
have been developed to provide security systems to women via their phones. This paper presents
Abhaya, an Android Application for the Safety of Women and this app can be activated this app
by a single click, whenever need arises. A single click on this app identifies the location of place
through GPS and sends a message comprising this location URL to the registered contacts and also
call on the first registered contact to help the one in dangerous situations. The unique feature of
this application is to send the message to the registered contacts continuously for every five
minutes until the " stop " button in the application is clicked. Continuous location tracking
information via SMS helps to find the location of the victim quickly and can be rescued safely.

Women’s safety is a big concern which has been the most important topic till date. Women safety
matters a lot whether at home, outside the home or working place. Few crimes against ladies
particularly rape cases were terribly dread and fearful. Most of the women of various ages, till this
day are being subjected to violence, domestic abuse, and rape. As lady’s ought to travel late night
generally, it’s necessary to remain alert and safe. Although the government is taking necessary
measures for their safety, still, there are free safety apps for women that can help them to stay safe.
Most of the females these days carry their smartphone with them, so it is necessary to have at least
one the personal safety apps installed. Such a security app for ladies will definitely facilitate in a
way or the opposite. This is user-friendly application that can be accessed by anyone who has
installed it in their smart phones. Our intention is to provide you with fastest and simplest way to
contact your nearest help. In this system user needs to feed three contact numbers, in case of
emergency on moving the phone up and down thrice, the system sends SMS and calls on one of
the numbers feeded into the system with the location. The phone starts vibrating and siren starts
ringing. This features for both everyday safety and real emergencies, making it an ultimate tool
for all.

Here we introduce an app which ensures the safety of women. This helps to identify and call on
resources to help the one out of dangerous situations. This reduce risk and bring assistance when
we need it and help us to identify the location of the one in danger.

We recommend our app since it have some key features which diverse it from others. They are
quoted below:

1) At first user have to save some details. These details include: Email address and password of
the user, Email address and mobile number of the recipient and a Text Message.

2) Then initialize this app as a "widget”, so that a finger touch is enough to alert your recipient

3) It will also record voice around surroundings for 45 seconds and then send these records and a
text message to the recipient number. This message also includes the current position (latitude and
longitude) of the victim.

2.0] Aim/Benefits of the Micro-Project

This paper summarizes current safety device available for women’s self-protection.
• By implementing and using our proposed system, not only safety of women but also
valuable things will be just a click away at cheaper rate.
• The device will be activated through the voice commands.
• The panic switch can be used as an alternative to the voice commands.
• Buzzer will be used to alert the surrounding people in emergency situations.
• The details of the victim will be stored in the device, which will also be mailed along with
the location and captured images.

PROJECT TITLE: WOMEN’S SAFETY APP USING ANDROID

1.0 Brief Description:(PROJECT ABSTRACT)

❖ Brief Knowledge:

• This is a smartphone app that helps women to ensure their safety using their devices.
• A little about Women's Security and working of this application.
• Women are adept at mobilizing diverse groups for a common cause. They often work across
ethnic, religious, political, and cultural divides to promote peace. We are all aware of importance
of women's safety, but we must realize that they should be properly protected. Women’s are not
as physically strong as men; in an emergency situation a helping hand would be a relief for them.
• The best way to minimize your chances of becoming a victim of violent crime (robbery, rape,
domestic violence) is to identify and call on resources to help you out of dangerous situations.
Whether you're in immediate trouble or get separated from friends during a night out and don't
know how to get home, having these apps on your phone can reduce your risk and bring
assistance when you need it.
• In the light of recent outrage in Delhi which shook the nation and woke us to the safety issues
for our daughters, people are gearing up in different ways to fight back. A host of new apps have
been developed to provide security systems to women on their phones.
• Our app is one of them.

❖ Project Overview:

• The basic aim of the system is to develop a low-cost solution for GPS based women tracking
system (women safety system) which can applied to various domains of the industrial and
personal use just by using the very common mean i.e. mobile with android enabled.
• The main objective of the system is to track the current location of the person which has an
android enabled mobile by extracting the longitude and latitude of that target person.
• The primary objective of our system is to track the person and plot the location on real time
system like Google map.

 ❖ PROPOSED SYSTEM:

• A wide range of tracking systems has been developed so far tracking vehicles and displaying
their position on a map, but none of the applications has been developed so far which tracks the
mobility of a human being. Now a day's tracking a person's mobility has become a crucial issue
these days be it tracking a criminal came on payroll or a system which is cost effective and can
be used for tracking a human being using a GPS and GPRS equipped mobile phone rather than
using a handheld GPS receiver. The main focus of our project is to reduce the overall cost of
tracking based on GPS system which is a satellite-based service which is available 24X7
everywhere in the whole world. GPS system can be used to get location which includes details
like latitude, longitude and altitude values along with the timestamp details etc.
• It a free of cost service available to every individual. In order to track the movement of the person
we have used Google Maps for mapping the location sent by the mobile phone. The mobile
phone which fetches the GPS location communicates with the server using General Packet Radio
Service (GPRS). This service is a low-cost service provided by the service providers which is a
wireless data communication system. Mobile phones equipped with GPS receiver are easily
available in the market these days and is a booming technology these days. This cell phone
technology has enabled us to communicate almost every part of the world across the boundaries.
The GSM/GPRS is one of the best and cheapest modes of communication present these days and
in future.
