MODULE 1
ASSESSMENT
Essay:

1. Explain the term “SAFETY” with your own idea and give examples (5 pts.).
Safety is very vital aspect in any industry as an accident-free work environment,
boosts the morale of the team members working in any hazardous situations. Safety
means continuing and healthful living without injury. Safety is freedom from harm or
the danger of harm.
Example of safety is the Safety Precautions during this Covid 19 Pandemic such as:
wearing facemask and face shields, washing of hands, and maintaining social
distancing which will make us safe from Covid 19 virus.

2. How do a person become at RISK condition? Site some examples (10 pts.).
Living in a complex world, we always wanted to be safe from anything that will
harm or total being. A person will become at risk when he/she perform such things
without proper safety precautions.
Example, we all know that during this pandemic wearing of facemask is a must, when
a person doesn’t wear a face mask specially in a crowded place, he/she is extremely
at-risk condition.

3. Distinguish Unsafe Acts from Unsafe Condition by giving a concrete example (10
pts.)
Unsafe Act - Performance of a task or other activity that is conducted in a manner
that may threaten the health and/or safety of workers. For example:

 Lack of or improper use of PPE.

 Operating equipment at unsafe speed.

 Failure to warn people in work activity.

 Bypass or removal of safety devices.

 Using defective equipment.

 Use of tools for other than their intended purpose.

 Working in hazardous locations without adequate protection or warning.

 Improper repair of equipment.

Unsafe Condition - A condition in the work place that is likely to cause property
damage or injury. For example:
 Defective tools, equipment, or supplies.

 Inadequate supports or guards.

 Inadequate warning systems.

 Fire and explosion hazards.

 Poor housekeeping.

 Uneven walking surfaces.

 Excessive noise.

 Poor ventilation.

1. Based on the discussion above, why it is important to know the causes and the type of
injuries incurred during the accident? 5pts.

Knowing the causes of injury during accident because it is one of the most vital
steps in injury prevention as this can lead to the development of effective injury
prevention programs.

2. As a criminology student, how would you impart the Safety and health in your
community? 5pts

As a criminology student I would impart Safety and Health in my community by


following Health and Safety Protocols incurred by the safety leaders or health and
safety officers in our community, by that I could be a perfect role model to the people
and to the young ones in our community ensuring that following the protocols will
keep as safe and healthy.
