Welcome to the Module 2A: Prepares Feasible and Practical Budget with the following
competencies:
• Manages Family Resources Efficiently
• Prioritizes Needs Over Wants
This Module contains training materials and activities for you complete.
You are required to go through a series of learning activities in order to complete each of
the learning outcomes of the module. In each learning outcome there are Information
Sheets, Tasks/Job Sheets, Operation Sheets and Self-Check. Do these activities on your
own and answer the Self-Check at the end of each Learning activity.
If there are questions or clarifications regarding this module, ask your EPP/TLE teacher
for assistance.
In this module you will learn Manages Family Resources Efficiently, Prioritizes Needs
over Wants. This will widen your learning experiences, desirable work attitude and skills
necessary for you to become independent and productive individual in the future.
You may already have some basic knowledge and skills covered in this module.
If you can demonstrate competence to your teacher in a particular skill, talk to your teacher
so you do not have to undergo the same training/module again.

TECHNICAL TERMS

For clarity and understanding, the following terms are defined:
1. Family Resources - are the means that can be used by the family to cope with
difficult situations.
2. Resources - stock or supply of money, materials, staff and other assets that can be
drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively.
4. Material Resources - found in natural world that have practical use and value for
humans.
5. Non-Material Resources - not consisting of physical objects.
6. Budget -an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time

12. Prioritize- designate or treat (something) as more important than other things.
13. Wants- are something that you wish to have, so as to add comfort in your life.

Introduction
This topic deals on Prepares Feasible and Practical Budget with competency
Manages Family Resources Efficiently which you should learn at an early age. Resources
vary from family to family. Those family with more resources can easily accomplish more
activities at home. Those with fewer resources need to budget and use their resources
wisely. As family member you can help to ensure the attainment of the family goal by
helping each other, and with the effective use of resources. The members of the family are
in turns, taught how to make use of these resources in the most economical and effective
way as possible.

Introduction
You have learned from the previous lesson about how to manage family resources
efficiently, and it all depends on the family income allocating it to provide for the Basic
needs of members and comfortable living. By means of Budgeting the family can properly
allot the income. Managing of Family resources efficiently you become disciplined and
prudent member of the family.
You are constantly faced with choices or decisions. The decisions you make are
guided (directly or indirectly) by your personal priorities. You have to learn how to
prioritize your Needs and Wants in life to figure out what expenses are necessary and
which one can be deferred. In prioritizing your Needs and Wants it gives you a clear
picture of how much you have to spend, what you must buy and what you want to buy.
