Mathematics 6
Quarter 4- Week 7

Name: ________________________________________________________
Grade/Section: _______________________________________________
Date: ______________

I. Background Information for Learners

Probability is the likelihood that an event will happen. It is a comparison of favorable

outcomes to possible outcomes.
P= number of favorable outcomes
number of possible outcomes
 The probability of an outcome can be written as a number from 0 to 1. It may be
expressed as a ratio, fraction, decimal or percent.
 A sample space is a list of all the possible outcomes of an activity or
experiments. It is also a useful way to look at multiple probability outcomes. It is
utilized alongside the ‘or’ addition rule of probability.
 Favorable Outcomes is an outcome that we are looking for.
 Tree Diagram is a device used to list all possibilities of a sequence of events in a
systematic way.

II. Learning Competency with Code:

Makes listings and diagrams of outcomes and tells the number of favorable outcomes
and chances using listings and diagrams.
(M6SP-IVi-22)

III. Activities:

Activity 1: Direction: Look at the color spinner. Make a sample space for the spin.

1

Activity 2:
Direction: Refer to the spinner in Activity 1 to answer these questions.

1. How many sectors does the spinner have? _____________

2. What is the probability that the spinner will land on orange? ____________
3. What is the probability that it will land on blue? _________
4. What is the probability that it will land on orange, blue, red and green?
________
5. What is the probability that it will land on green and on primary colors?
_________

Activity 3:
Direction: Read the situation and answer the questions that follow.

Mark is going to buy a new bicycle. He can choose from 3 models and 4 colors. Look at the
tree diagram below what are the different choices he has for his new bicycle.

Model Color
Three-speed blue
Five-speed black
green

Model Color Choice

blue three-speed blue
three-speed black three-speed black
green three-speed green

blue five-speed blue

five-speed black five-speed black
green five-speed green

Using the tree diagram, answer the following questions.

1. How many choices are possible based from the list of choices shown in the
diagram?
________________________________________________

2. What is the probability that Mark will choose a five-speed, green bicycle?
______________________________________________
3. What is the probability that Mark will choose a five-speed, blue bicycle?

5. What is the probability that Mark will choose a three-speed, black bicycle?

Activity 4:
Direction: Look at the menu below.
MENU 1. List the number of ways to order snacks.
HAMBURGERS BEVERAGES 2. Complete the tree diagram inside the box to
illustrate the choices.
Regular Burger Juice
Cheeseburger Tea
Pizzaburger

Activity 5:
Read the situation and do what is asked.

A travel agent plans trips for tourists from Iriga to Albay. He gives them three ways to get
from town to town: bus or van. Once the tourists arrive, there are two ways to get to the hotel:
jeepney or tricycle. The cost of each type of transportation is given in the table below.

Transportation Type Cost

Bus Php100
Van Php200
Jeepney Php40

3
Tricycle Php50

1. Draw a tree diagram to illustrate the possible choices for the tourists.

2. Determine the cost for each outcome.

IV. Key to Correction:

Activity 1
The spinner can land on 4 sectors. So, the sample space is: red, yellow, blue and
green.
Activity 2 Activity 3
1. 4 1. 6
2. ¼ 2. 1/6
3. ¼ 3. 1/6
4. 4/4 4. 1/6
5. 3/4 5. 1/6

Activity 5 (Rubrics for Teachers)
Criteria Points
1. Complete 4 – All the criteria are met
2. Accurate 3 – 1 of the criteria is not met
3. Neat and Clean 2 – 2 of the criteria is not met
4. Clear 1 – 3 of the criteria is not met
