Describing the things, I have learned from this course (GEO101):

This course mainly taught me about economic geography. However, before I began studying
economic geography, I had to first learn about basic geographical concepts such as divisions of
geography, the geographic coordination system, geographical regions, the atmosphere and
weather of our planet, etc. In addition, I was able to get knowledge about the earth's size,
shape, plates, and interior.

Then, I began to learn about economic geography and the factors that influence it, including
nature and man induced economic activities. I got to know about Primary economic activities
such as fishing, forestry, mining, and farming. I also learnt about the PCE model, which is based
on economic men, and the many forms of production in which economic men are involved, both
directly and indirectly. The primitive historical lesson regarding primitive primary economic
activity, their hunting-gathering lifestyle, and their location was also enjoyable.

Moreover, knowing about environmental resource management, which I learned through this
course, was significant to me. This topic also taught me about geodesy, paleogeography, and
political geography. Which all are crucial aspects of environmental resource management. Von
Thunen's model was fascinating to study because it taught me how market processors could
determine how lands based on different locations could be used.

In addition, the secondary economic activity along with primary, secondary and tertiary
production helped me to identify and differentiate between different levels of production out
taken by economic men. Moreover, Webber’s Least Cost Theory was also essential for me to
know after knowing secondary economic activity and its impact on how it can change natural
landscape into a cultural one.

Furthermore, the lessons I gained from this course about energy, the distinction between
renewable and nonrenewable energy, and the many sorts of energy sources have compelled me
to make changes in my life. I learned how critical it is to avoid polluting the environment when
producing energy. As well as how renewable energy sources can bring more positive changes to
our country’s environment.
Things I am going do differently from now on:

Finally, I would want to mention that learning this course has piqued my curiosity in the
geography and ecosystem of our earth. I am more informed about renewable energy sources
today, which is why I strive to avoid utilizing non-renewable energy sources whenever possible.
Furthermore, I have committed to ensure that I do not throw plastic items directly into the
environment and that all plastic waste is recycled. I am also going to encourage my village's
residents to embrace solar energy by explaining its advantages and how it might help them
during times of load shedding. This course taught me how the ozone layer's depletion as a result
of greenhouse gas emissions can be an existential threat to the world. As a result, I will work
with my university club to develop an awareness campaign to increase awareness regarding the
effects of rising carbon emissions and greenhouse gas depletion of the ozone layer.
