Gauge R&R Instructions:

You will need:

• 3 operators (people to make the measurements)
• Between 2 and 10 examples of the same parts (large and small examples are best)

Setting up:
1. Label each part 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10 as required
2. Enter the operator names in to the green boxes in the Gauge R&R form

Run the experiment:

1) Ask each operator to measure each part once using their normal process. Enter the results in to the Gauge R&R templat
Tip: Randomize the order of parts and operators to improve the results
2) Ask each operator to measure the parts again. Enter these results in to the trial #2 row. Then repeat for trial #3

Results:
The results are presented in a table to the right, click on the orange 'Chart' button to see the graphs.

Characteristics of a good gauge:

• Gauge R&R <10% Satisfactory
• Gauge R&R 10%-30% May be satisfactory. Depends on the magnitude of the use, cost of new gauges, cost of repairs, et
• Gauge R&R 30%-100% Unsatisfactory. Take corrective action

Sources of variation:
• Repeatability - Variation due to gauge
• Reproducibility - Variation due to operator
• Gauge R &R - Variation due to Repeatability and Reproducibility
• Part to Part - Variation due to parts
• Total Variation - Part-to-Part & Measurement System Variation
