3.5.1 Assignment: Declaration Of Policy

Instruction: Provide your reflection on the Declaration of Policy concerning the act strengthening compliance
with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof.
Filipino workers now have better workplace protection to the passage of Republic Act No. 11058 also known
as "Occupational Safety and Health Standards Law". This law requiring businesses to provide complete safe
work processes, information dissemination regarding work-related dangers, safety and health training, and
protective equipment, this law makes workplaces safer. Workers are also urged to gain a greater
understanding of the dangers associated with their jobs, as well as to be aware that they have the right to
refuse dangerous work, report incidents, and participate in their employers' safety and health programs.
R.A. 11058 is significant because it safeguards workers by establishing a safer working environment. This
republic legislation has various rights for workers as part of it. According to this law, Employers have the duty
to provide comprehensive job safety instructions or orientation to all employees, particularly those who are
new to the job, including those relevant to familiarization with their work environment. Employers should also
comply with OSH standards, which include training, medical exams, and the provision of protection and safety
measures, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guards, if needed.
Employers must have an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Program that includes the following
guidelines or information: a commitment to follow OSH requirements, general health and safety guidelines
related to drugs and illness control, details of company projects, the composition of the OSH committee,
safety personnel and facilities, safety training and education, accident reporting, worker wellness, emergency
preparedness, waste management systems, and pro-active waste management.
As we reflect this, Republic Act No. 11058 is very relevant at this day- especially this time of burden due to
pandemic. Workers are ensures that they have the right to demand with regards on their safety and workers
are ensure that they are protected because of this law.
