Prince Alfred Park Pool

105th ANNUAL SWIMMING CARNIVAL


Monday 21st February, 2022
Dear Parent/Caregiver
North Sydney Boys High School’s annual swimming carnival will be held at Prince Alfred Park Pool (105 Chalmers Street,
Surry Hills) on Monday 21st February, 2022.
Attendance:
YEAR 7-11: Attendance is compulsory for all Year 7-11 students (attendance will be recorded as part of the Semester 1
school report).
YEAR 12: Optional attendance - students who are interested in competing and gaining selection to represent the school at
the Zone Carnival can choose to attend the carnival.
Students who have not been given permission to participate WILL NOT be allowed to swim at the carnival.
Travel:
Students are able to make their own way to and from the venue. The venue is located a short walk from Central Railway Station
(see the map below).
If your son is unable to make his own way to the carnival, there will be hired buses leaving from school at 8:15 a.m. and
returning at approximately 3:00 p.m. at a cost of $10.00 return trip.

Important: If students wish to travel on a hired bus, a parent must complete the Google Form registration by Friday 18th
February.

Time:
All students are to meet for ROLL CALL at 8:50 a.m. inside the venue. Students will be dismissed from the venue at
approximately 2.30 p.m.

Roll call:
Rolls will be marked by normal roll call teachers at the start and end of the day. Students who have been given parental
permission to indicate that their child is permitted to go in the water will be issued with a wristband by their roll call
teacher. Students without a wristband WILL NOT be allowed in the water.
Cost:
Students DO NOT need to pay any money for entry on the day. The swimming carnival cost has been included as a carnival
levy in the annual school contributions. Please note, this contribution fee is not refundable if your child is unable to attend
a sports carnival.

Uniform:
Students can wear their sports uniform or house colours (see the table below for assigned Sports Houses and colours).
All students need to ensure they take precautions to avoid sun exposure by wearing a hat, sun screen and appropriate
clothing on the day.
What to bring:
Students will need to bring their own food and drink for the whole day. Currently, there is NO CANTEEN facility at the pool
Students will not be allowed to leave the venue to buy food or order food from outside services.

What NOT to bring:


Students are not to bring laptops, tablets or other electronic devices to the carnival as it is preferable that students enjoy the
day socialising with friends in between events.

Spectators:
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions there are no parent spectators permitted at the carnival this year.
Competitor Number:
All students will be allocated a competitor number prior to the carnival. This information will be sent by email. Students are
required to remember this number to assist in the recording of results and participation in events.
Permission:
All parents will need to complete the NSBHS School Swimming Carnival 2022 Online Consent Form by Thursday 17th February.
Travel Details – Walking from Central Station

Exit the station via Exit 6 to Chalmers Street. Turn right and walk along the pathway in Prince Alfred Park to the pool.
