Program Description: The Master of Arts in education in Technology and Livelihood Education
program equips learners with adequate and relevant competencies’,

HE 501 Entrepreneurship This course deals with the

the Philippine setting. It focuses on
the beginning entrepreneurs in his
attempt to organize economic
activities and generate employments.

course.
HE 502 Food Processing This course about food 3

methods of cooking, and
preservation, and food packaging.

HE 503 Textile, Fashion and The course prepares the student to 3

deals with the application of the
principles of design in designing
clothing with reference to the different
figure types.
For the last part, students will
develop their skills in drawing human
figure by applying the principles of
human proportion using a lay figure
as basis for interpreting a design.
Practice is given emphasis in
designing clothes for men’s &
women’s apparel. Students are given
opportunity to conduct original
research to make a significant
contribution for the improvement of
one’s community.

HE 504 Creative Arts The most popular form of 3


creative arts in Home Economics is
Crafts. In this course, topics include
the wide variety of types of work
where useful and decorative objects
are made completely by one’s hand
or by using only single related tools
like scissors, carving implements or
hooks. Opportunities will be provided
for the harness and cultivation of art
interest among students. Projects
created can be source of income by
venturing in handcrafts business.
HE 505 Home Economics and The course prepares students 3
Livelihood Education to teach HELE in the elementary,
secondary and college levels as to
engage in home based industries.
It helps internalize the value of
work, develop high skills and provide
reinforcement and enrichment. The
learning activities/strategies are
designed to guide teachers (students)
on how and what to teach.

IA501 Advance Approach in This is an advanced course for the 3
Drafting Technology drafting technology program to
develop an expertise of CAD software
with topics ion the advanced drafting
and design of structures. The topic of
drafting/planning theory will be further
addressed by utilizing modern CAD
techniques. It helps internalize the
value of advanced drafting skills and
techologies, to develop high skills and

guide the graduate students on how

IA502* Project Management This course provides students with an 3
overview of project management,
focusing on project initiation and
control. A discussion of the different
types of projects, the project life cycle
as well as the intricacies of defining
and monitoring project resources,
cost, scope and schedule – through
work breakdown structures, the
precedence diagramming method
and earned value analysis among
other tools – is included. Popular
project management software will
also be introduced.

and strategies to research, design,
build, assess prototypes for products

Finally, the course also deals with the
professional practices in the field of
education and research as viewed
through the lens of technology and
design education.
IA504* Research Seminar This course will provide an 3
(Major Field) opportunity for students to establish
or advance their understanding of
research through critical exploration
of research language, ethics, and
approaches. The course introduces
the language of research, ethical
principles and challenges, and the
elements of the research process
within quantitative, qualitative, and
mixed methods approaches. The
students will use these theoretical
underpinnings to begin to critically
review literature relevant to their field
or interests and determine how
research findings are useful in
forming their understanding of their
research topic.
This course also presents and
discusses methodological
perspectives in research and various
research methods, designs,
strategies and techniques It provides
the acquisition of relevant theoretical
knowledge and encourages practical
application and the use of critical
approaches to the various aspects of
research methodology. The focus is
directed towards the opportunities
provided by and limitations of various
research methods in relation to the
research questions or hypotheses
set. The use of the mixed methods
research approach will be part of the
course with critical appraisal of
published research results.

IA505 Industrial Arts Education The course deals with the discussion 3
of advanced concepts of Industrial
Arts, particularly, on the different
schools of thought regarding
technology as a whole, its evolution,
utilization and significance in the field.
It will also equip graduate students
with the materials, occupations,
processes and products and
describes the various outlooks of
technology as it pervades society
today. Finally, it also covers the
advanced concepts in the areas of
