Rule of Thirds
Within the confines of your homes, take one photograph employing the rule of
thirds. Choose only one scenario (given below). Provide a title for your photo. What
message would you like to give your audience with your photo?
Furnish an explanation as to how you used the rule of thirds in your composition
and discuss the title and message of your photo.
Scenarios: (choose only 1)
1. Compose a photograph where the focus is placed on one of the intersection points.
2. Compose a photograph where there is one vertical element placed along either of the
vertical guidelines.
3. Compose a photograph where there is one horizontal element placed along either of
the
horizontal guidelines.

Explanation:
The recent events have taken toll on many or mayhap everyone. Some realized their
potential and they became stronger while others were struggling and up to now, they find it
hard to cope. I took a photo while pondering what something could be significant and
meaningful that is hopefully deemed worthy to be shared considering the circumstances.
This photo is entitled Euphonic Solace, which shows the subjects mini-vinyl speaker
and the guitar particularly a certain part of its body, taken within the confines of my room. I
was able to achieve this image by aligning the 3rd (D) string of the guitar to the lower
horizontal guideline with the speaker inches away from the guitar.
These two, the mini-vinyl speaker and the guitar inside my room have been my go-to-
escape the entire period of quarantine even up to now. Whenever I feel suffocated of the
situation, feeling melancholic for no reason, having a hard time dealing with homework. I
just had to have a hold and strum the strings of my guitar or play melodies through the mini-
vinyl speaker for an hour or two. In a just a snap of the tune emerging from either of the two;
I feel my body relaxing, my shoulder loosening up and exhaustion dawning on me. It’s like
my body telling me, ‘just in time for a break’. Since then, it made me feel at ease and calm,
and so the Euphonic Solace for I found peace through the rhythm of music.
I took this photo thinking and might as well share it that we may not have a chance to
choose our battles but we definitely have a choice and ways on how to conquer them. So, if I
were to associate a message behind this picture in just one word, this one depicts resilience.
