1.

Among the 8 principles of effective risk management as discussed above,

which do you think should be prioritized by a tourism-related enterprise?
Explain clearly and concise.

I could say that Dynamic should be prioritized by a tourism-related enterprise. Since

they need to anticipate, expect, and predict the possible risk that might occur in the
future. With the help of anticipation, it gives them a heads up or insight to foresee what
are the possible causes or occurrence of it that might hinder the success of their
specific target goal which is for example the improvement of their facilities, services,
and attractions involved in tourism, such as but not limited to: travel and tour services;
tourist transport services, whether for land, sea or air transportation; tour guides.
Secondly, they need to detect the occurrence of it, because it empowers a business or
tourism-related enterprise with the necessary tools so that it can adequately identify
and deal with potential risks. Once a risk has been identified, it is then easy to mitigate,
ease or reduce it. And lastly, acknowledging the risk, allows a business or tourism-
related enterprise to identify potential risks ahead of time, it also allows a business to
react accordingly and minimize or even prevent losses. Without identifying or
acknowledging the risks using risk management, a business cannot successfully define
objectives.

V. Evaluation

1. List 3 tourism activities or hobbies which are alcohol-free. Try to include activities that
involve different levels of risk. (At least 1 each of low, medium, high, very high)

List 3 tourism activities or hobbies which are alcohol-free.

 Hiking
 Cycling
 Sea Kayaking

Try to include activities that involve different levels of risk.

 Cycling- Low
 Rock Climbing- Medium
 Sky Diving- High
2. List at least 3 long and 3 short-term risks of each activity.

 Cycling

Short term risk

 Knee Pain
 Back pain
 Food numbness

Long term risk

 Head injuries
 Infertility
 Prostatitis

 Rock Climbing- Medium

Short term risk

 Sprain
 Strain
 Soft-tissue injuries

Long term risk

 Falling Rocks
 Avalanches
 Fractures
 Sky Diving- High

Short term risk

 Long oxygen level

 Pressure changes
 Leg and ankle injury

Long term risk

 Injury on landing; if tandem students, for example, fail to lift their legs up for
landing, they can take the impact through their ankles.

 Parachute malfunctions; around one in 1,000 parachute openings don't go to plan,

with various known malfunctions.

 Anxiety-induced spikes of adrenaline could be a recipe for disaster. The same applies
to individuals with congenital heart disease or arrhythmia. Skydiving may not be a
good fit for you.

4. Explain a brief why would you do it? Or explain why would you not do it?
We do have this saying that we only live once, so we need to enjoy every second, minute,
hour, day, month, or Year that God was given us to enjoy our existence. But we can’t
disregard the fact that there are lots of chances of risk that might occur while doing these
activities and I don’t want to be ignorant to disregard those things. If we could consider the
statistics that showing on the studies of experts showing the deaths and injuries of persons
who participated in these tourism-activities it’s a lot. But following precautionary measures
could help us to lessen the percentage of occurrence of this risk and hazards.
