The date for the next Court of Honor (COH) is going to be on Tuesday

Outdoor Leaders Weekend Troop 284 Welcomes Two New Scouts

The Outdoors Leaders Weekend will be held on After bridging from Cub Scout Pack 270, Troop 284 is
April 7-8 at Camp Tenacharison. Arrival is Friday pleased to welcome its two newest scouts:

Fayette EMS and the Emergency Medical Service Institute

Scout Days at Splash Lagoon
Splash Lagoon is holding Scout Days on April 29-30 and
May 6-7. The “best deal” is $19.95 per person with a
group reservation of 15 or more. The “easiest deal” is
$22.95 per person without the group. Tickets must be
purchased in advance. There is also a “make it a weekend
stay” discount of $50 off an overnight package. To see if
we have enough interest as a group, please RSVP to Lisa C.
by April 15th. Once again, this is a friends and family function
as opposed to an official troop activity. The troop assumes no
responsibility for the participants.
will be hosting an emergency drill and training at Heritage
Reservation on Saturday, April 29 for their
members. Between 50 and 100 Scouts and adult leaders
are needed from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. to help with the
training and act as disaster victims.
Participation will meet requirement #7 of Emergency
Preparedness merit badge and a counselor will be present
to sign Scouts’ blue cards. Lunch will be provided and
participants should dress to be outside all day. Any unit
interested in participating that would also like to camp at
Heritage will be able to do so free of charge. Space is
limited. Interested units must register by Sunday, April

Pittsburgh Urban Hike
On Sunday, March 26th the Troop took part in
a Pittsburgh Urban Hike guided by Jessica R.
Starting at the Fort Pitt Museum, the Troop
got a lesson on flint locks. From there it was
across the Fort Pitt Bridge and up the
Duquesne Incline to Mount Washington where
the Troop hiked the woods of Mount
Washington. It was then back down the
incline for a trip around Point State Park to
finish the five-mile hike. Those scouts in
attendance were: James S., Tommy K., Louie
B., Collin G., A.J. M., Zach M., David H.,
Andrew B., Zach C., David H., Joseph M., Adam
B., Alex N., Cole S., Marty T., Brendan Z., and
Isaiah F. Leaders in attendance were: Alan B.,
Joe C., Rick M., Walt M., David S., Jim S., Marty
T., David H., Bob B, Lee M., Randy G.

2017 NYLT
Westmoreland Fayette Council
National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program
to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can
use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of
self and others.
If you are: Registered with BSA, 13 years of age, Achieved at least 1st Class
Rank, have Scoutmaster Recommendation and Live by Scout Oath & Law,
you are ready to take scouting to the next level at NYLT.
The next NYLT will be held Sunday, July 30, 2017 through Friday, August 4,
2017 at Camp Buck Run. Registration is noon on Sunday and Course will
conclude after the closing ceremony on Friday.
Cost is $200 per participant if paid by July 15, 2017. After July 15 the fee
