3. Factors that affect photosynthesis
• Light intensity
• Temperature
• CO2 levels
• Water
• Minerals
Class Activities
(Discuss)
• Some plants can live under a strong light. It means
they need a lot of sun light. Ex: Corns, rice...
So, if there has a little bit sun light, they will die.
• But some plant needs a little bit sunlight. They can
live in a shade place.
Ex: Orchids....
• The suitable temperature for photosynthesis is
between 200C to 300C. Higher or lower temperature
than this, the stomata will destroy.
• Photosynthesis will stop its activity when there
is shortage or surplus of water.

• Normal rate of CO2 in the atmosphere is

0.03%. If it increases to 0.20%, the plants
will die.
4. Importance of Photosynthesis
• First, photosynthesis produces food. Organisms that carry on
photosynthesis provide food directly or indirectly nearly all the
other organisms on Earth.
• Second, photosynthetic organisms like plants can use CO2 and
release Oxygen. This removes CO2 from the atmosphere and adds
O2 to it.
➢Most plants convert glucose into starch which can be stored in the
roots.
• Even the organisms are autotrophs or heterotrophs, they need
food to survive. How does the food become the usable
energy?
