CARBOHYDRATES VS.

LIPIDS
I. Identify the differences between carbohydrates and lipids in terms of the following:
CARBOHYDRATES LIPIDS
Definition: a large group of organic compounds Definition: Lipids are organic molecules that
occurring in foods and living tissues and including contain hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen atoms and
sugars, starch, and cellulose. They contain serve as the structural and functional framework
hydrogen and oxygen in the same ratio as water of living cells.

II. For 5 sentences, what do you think are the importance of biomolecules to all living organism? (15
points)
Biomolecules are important as they control almost every aspect of organisims. From structure to
function for energy. Carbohydrates, protein, lipids, and nucleic acids are all examples of biomolecules,
which are organic compounds. They are necessary for live cells to survive. Some of the most important
biomolecules have important requirement that cannot be supplied using another resources.
