Contents Page Analysis

Contents Title
The contents title is conventionally at the top of the page and it is the largest text on the
page. It is there to indicate to the reader the purpose of the page which is the contents and it
is there to give the reader the reinsurance of and it points them to the correct places each
time. It also gives the reader good and accurate information to try to find what they are
looking for in the magazine and it usually goes in order.

The contents title for my contents page spreads near enough the full width of the
page which is above the column layouts and in the middle of the images. It is in a big
font to make it stand out that it's the contents page. It has separate fonts to make it
stand out from the rest and make it appealing to the audience.
Layout of articles

The layout of articles is that the page number comes first, It is then followed by the article
title which is usually in a bigger, bolder and different colour font to the main body text, simple
and plain font, it is really small and it gives us more information about the article. It is to give
the reader a better understanding on where to find the information for what they are looking
for instead of wasting time flicking through all the pages.

In my magazine, the layout of the articles starts with the page number and then gives
us a brief description on what is on that page and gives you the correct information to
find everything that you need. They have six different sections that introduce
everything in the magazine and give them a certain name after Football keywords.

Sections headings

The section headings is the text used to separate the articles into smaller sections and this
helps to create an order for the audience. It will often be limited to regular and which features
content. Smaller text than the “contents” title but bigger than the main body text to give the
reader a better understanding

The section headings are on a contents page to split the details upto different
components to make it easier for the reader to navigate through the magazine. An
example of this is the first section when it says “Upfront” which has connotations of
the Striker position like Ronaldo or Cisse and signifies that it is covering strikers.

Column Layout

The column layout is one of the key conventions in the contents analysis as it is used to
create structure and order to allow the audience to use and navigate around the page easily.
There are conventionally three columns to a singular page.

The column layout on my page is there to give the reader more of a view and gives us
a better understanding on where to go to find the information that you need and it is
easily navigated. My column layout is different from others because it is under the
contents page and it is split up into different sections.

Issue information

The issue information is used to symbolize the smaller text on the contents page. It is usually
positioned near where it says “contents.” It will often say the month and the year followed by
the issue number.
In my magazine, I do not have any issue information but there still are issue
information on different magazines and they are positioned next to the month and the
year.

Images

There are multiple images to illustrate articles on the page. The images are Usually
positioned together. They would also be visually interesting with relevant mise en scene that
signifies the genre.

There are many images on this content page as there are so many other articles about
different people involved in the football industry. On my contents page there are a
total of 13 images and they range from Jose Mourinho who is standing out as he is
the main focus of this magazine. TheClub shirts section is there for the fans and they
get an idea on each club's history and why their kits are so unique. Fans are the most
important thing of any sport because football is not the same without the fans. It is
very well linked to the genre of football because everyone is part of the same industry
and every image is linked back to football.

Page Number and additional information

The page number and additional information is at the bottom of the page. It is the small
piece of text on either of the two bottom corners. The page number is often near the small
masthead with the issue information.

The page number and the additional information is positioned at the bottom of the
page and it is there to create a reassurance on where the pages are located and the
additional information is there to add some more detail into the page. I have page
numbers on mine where the pictures of the main people are on that magazine and
where to find them.

Repetition of masthead
On a contents page, the repetition of the masthead is used sometimes at the top of the
page and it is near the title of “contents page.

The repetition of the masthead is normally at the top of the page in small words as
they dont want to take up the full page and to give the reader a better publication on
what they are reading. I have this on mine but at the top right and it is clear and
stands out from the rest.
