magazines and websites which
makes it a Mass media
Company because it produces
products that reach a big
audience.

It is also a cross media company


because it creates different types of media, it creates media brands and software
platforms. It's a Multinational Company because they engage “over 87 million global
passionate consumers a month” and because its a multi-platform media business
which is home to over 1,000 people across eight different divisions. The company
was created in November 2011 when digital media business Magicalia had merged
with BBC Magazines and Origin publishing which is owned by Hubert Burda. Ever
since then, they have been learning and growing their magazine media model and
winning many awards along the way, such as the PPA Digital Awards in September
2013 or the AOP Awards.
In November 2011 the immediate was created and the BBC Food Magazine was the
named app of the year at the PPA Digital Awards.
In 2012 of October they had launched their portfolio onto kindle fire and in March
2013 they acquired the UK’s largest Triathlon show.
In November 2013 the Radio times ‘vote Dalek’ cover name was named PPA’s cover
of the century as well as lego selecting them to publish brands starting with lego
chima.
In July 2014 they acquired the 1st cycling and crafts folders from FuturePlc as well
and in September 2014 they became proud patrons of the prince’s trust.
In January 2015 they acquired Hitched which was the UK’s No.1 Digital Wedding
Planning Market, in May 2015 they were named British Media Awards Company of
the year and in June 2016 they launched their new creative and content studio,
imagine.
In July 2016 the radio times won best Native Campaign at AOP Awards with Netflix.
In January 2017 they were acquired by Hubert Burda Media.
In July 2017 they were named AOP Digital Publisher of the year and in September
2018 they acquired BBC Good Food which was the UK’s No.1 Food Media brand
and finally in January 2019 they acquired upper street events.
