Walt Disney, the famous cartoon and film maker, was born in Chicago, USA on December 5th,
1901. He didn’t finish school because he didn’t like it. He left school at fourteen, and studied art.

In 1918, he wanted to be a soldier, but he was very young. An international organisation sent
him to Europe, where he helped soldiers.

Bounds. They had two daughters: Diane and Sharon.

He made his first Mickey Mouse cartoon film in 1928. He didn’t have a lot of money, and he used
his voice for Mickey. Then he made other cartoon animals. In general, they were short films.

Disney had a film company, but he wasn’t completely happy with it because he wanted to make
long animated films. Two famous examples are Fantasia and 101 Dalmatians.

In an interview he said, “I want to do something special for children. They are our future. I’m
going to make a special place for children. In this centre, they are going to play and meet Mickey,
Minnie, Donald and Daisy, and they’re going to have fun.” Disney World opened in 1971, but Disney
