5) Section D contains 1 question of 5 marks

SECTION-A
1) Find the ratio of number of sides of a triangle to pentagon?
Ans: 3:5
2) Simplify the ratio of 30:40?
Ans: 3:4
3) Check whether the given ratios are equivalent or not. 2/7, 6/21. Ans: Yes
4) In a city, there are thrice the number of female employees than male employees. Also the
number of children are ten times than that of female employees. What is the ratio of men:
women: children? Ans: 1:3:30

5) The first, second and fourth terms in a proportion are 32, 112, 217 respectively. Find the third
term.
Ans: 32/112 = x/217
X= 62

SECTION-B
6) A child has chosen a gift box containing fruits as his prize in the competition which contains
10 types of fruits costing Rs.500. each costing the same. Find the cost of 250 such fruits.
(2marks)
Ans: Cost of each fruit = 500/10 = Rs.50
Cost of 250 fruits = 250 x 50 = Rs.12500
7) Green paint is made by mixing blue, yellow and white paints in the ratio 2: 7: 1. How much
blue paint is needed to make 64 litres of green paint? (2 marks)

Ans: Each part o fpaint in litres = 64/(10)= 6.4 litres

Part of blue paint in 64 litres = (2/10) x 64 = 12.8 litres

8) Mr. Ananth got a lottery of ₹ 5,00,000 and hence deposited it in a bank and in the month of
January he withdrew ₹ 5000 from his account on the last date of the month. Find the ratio of
(a) Money withdrawn to the total money deposited.
(b) Money withdrawn to the remaining amount in the bank.
Ans: a) 5000:500000 = 1:100

b) 5000:495000 = 1:99

9) 1710 mangoes are divided among the students consisting of both boys and girls who are in the
ratio 10:9.
a) Find the number of mangoes the boys get and also by the girls.
Ans: Boys = (10/19) x 1710=900 Girls = (9/19)x 1710 = 810
b) Had it been the ratio of 5:10, what would be the number of mangoes received by girls alone?
Ans: 10/15 x 1710 =1140 mangoes
SECTION-D
10) Pianos and pipe organs contain keyboards, a portion of which is shown below.

a) What is the ratio of black keys to white keys in the picture above?
Ans: 5/7

b) If the pattern shown continues, how many black keys appear on a portable keyboard with 35
white keys?

Ans: 25

c) If the pattern shown continues, how many black keys appear on a pipe organ with a total of
240 keys?

Ans: 100
