- What are some methods of investigation used by Jung in the movie. Cite 2
and describe how these methods work (what is the idea behind these methods
of investigation).
The method of Karl Jung's investigation is the word association
method, where he would interview the patient. The method can seen being
executed in the beginning of the movie, Carl Jung would interview Sabrina
and try to ask her things of words that are associated together in the hopes of
triggering something. While interviewing her, Sabrina would make this
grotesque faces and movements as some sort of an involuntary physical
response of her body while answering the following questions. Carl would
write down those details and make a deeper investigation about those details.
The second method that Jung would use is the dream interpretation
where he would ask Sabrina of things that she dreamt of, this method can also
be seen in the beginning of the movie. The dream interpretation allowed Jung
to identify Sabrina's case as some sort of sexual problem.
The premise of these methods is that it allowed Carl to understand
Sabrina on a deeper level; however it is important to know that there should
be limits on how it would develop to avoid problems. These two method
something that many psychologist do, getting to know the patient and their
problems will really help both on understanding the conflict so that a solution
can be presented.

- What "disorder" did Sabina Spielrein suffer from? How is this

conceptualized (explanation or etiology) during Jung's time.
Sabrina suffers from hysteria, with symptoms of tics, grimaces,
laughing, and crying. During her stay in the mental sanitarium, Carl Jung
discovered more about her case; she also developed some kind of BDSM due
to the abuse that her father had done to her, where she becomes turned on by

During Jung's time cases like that were dealt with already, with Jung's

emotionally generous and exceptionally idealistic. It is said that her condition
has something to do with her fixation in her anal stage which Jung defended
that her case is not just about that but perhaps something even more greater.

between Freud and Jung, according to the movie.
One of the issues that these two men have in conflict is their point of
views about the things. In one instance in the movie Jung stated that Freud is
always insistent on interpreting everything on a sexual term which is
something that Jung cannot agree with at all times.

- Who is Dr. Otto Gross and how did he change Jung's behavior.
Otto Gross is a disciple of Sigmund Freud he was sent by Freud in the
mental sanitarian that a Jung is currently taking patients in. Gross's idea of
not repressing changed Jung's behavior about repression. Jung was a man
that believes in monogamy but upon hearing Gross's opinion about
repression, Jung immediately started being under the sexual deceptions of
Sabrina which would result in Sabrina being Jung's mistress in the movie.
