Yr 7 Intro to Drama – Distanced Learning – Frozen Musical Theatre Analysis

Lesson 1 – Intro to the subject

5mins - Allocate seats/numbers on entrance.

15mins – Register/teams log on if required (Pupils use extension leads if necessary)

5mins - Classroom set up rules and expectations – Move between chairs, floor and circle.

10mins – CIRCLE WARM UP – NAME GAME

10mins – Introduce teacher and discuss what is drama? What is acting? What jobs could this subject
prepare you for?

10mins – CIRCLE WARM UP – CLAP, TURN AROUND, TOUCH THE GROUND

PUPILS AT HOME – Take part in the live lesson in school while making notes, and research online to
support what you have heard on the teams meeting.

1. Write notes on the classroom rules and expectations which they need to remember.
2. Describe the benefits of the name game warm up activity
3. Describe the benefits of the clap, turn around, touch the ground warm up activity
4. Research and write in your own words;

 What does analysing and evaluating drama mean?

 What jobs can you do as an actor?
Lesson 2

All pupils need laptops with a word file open ready to type.

Warm up – Funky Chicken

Research and write notes to explain in your own words what is;

 musical theatre
 what type of play is Disney’s Frozen?

Play each clip once and give the pupils 5mins to write. Then play it a second time and give them another
5mins to add to their notes.

0-3mins – Exposition – Establishing the setting

 where and when is the play set?


 how do the ensemble characters set the scene?
 describe what does the stage look like?

3-4mins – Magic powers – Introducing the main characters

 how are the main characters introduced?


 describe how the two characters Anna and Elsa are different
 what special effects they use?

4-7mins – Do you want to build a snowman? – Scenery

 how do the actors change scenes?


 what lighting effects have you seen?
 what other special effects have they used?
 describe the costumes
Lesson 3

Warm up – Swimming in the swimming pool

7 – 8.40mins – Emotion

 how do they show the parents funeral?


 what emotions to the characters have, and how do the actresses show their emotion?

8.40-14mins – For the first time - Ensemble

 how are the ensemble used by Anna during her song?

14-15mins – Anna and Hans – Comic dialogue

Lesson 4

Warm up – Baby Shark

Lesson 5

Warm up – Flatulent elephant, tip-toeing on lava, freezing cold, fighting a hurricane, lion chasing you on
skates, ants in your pants, moon jumping, underwater swimming, alligator dentist.
