Supersedes & replaces MAGNUM DXi / PREMIUM DXi

G0039/3 dated 01-2010 KERAX DXi – MIDLUM DXi
Modifications to the
BRAKES
previous versions are
highlighted by two Concerns: Workshop – Reception – Stores
vertical lines

I – SUBJECT: BRAKES DIAGNOSTICS – EBS BRAKE VALVE

The brake valve is equipped with 2 internal potentiometers, which allow the EBS to recognize the braking
request in electronic mode.
In case of electronic failure, the system changes to emergency mode.

CUSTOMER EFFECT: – STOP warning light – "Wheel Locking Danger" message.

– Change of perception of braking efficiency.

FAULT CODES : MID 136 SID 76 FMI2 or MID 136 SID 76 FMI4.

CONSEQUENCE: The vehicle changes to emergency braking mode. Maximum braking is kept and obtained
by fully depressing the brake pedal.

ACTION: Check the wiring harnesses, connectors, brake valve and EBS electronic control unit.

II – METHOD

II – 1. Visual check on wiring harnesses

– Visually check that the wiring harnesses are sound
and not cut or notched.
– Check that the connectors on the brake valve, the 2
EBS unit, the EJB and the bulkhead grommet are
neither oxidized, nor mechanically damaged.
– Specifically check that the seals (1) and (2) of the 1
wiring harness connector on the brake valve are in
place and undamaged.

EJB hood on MIDLUM DXi: Inspect the

connecting arrangement and check for any ingress
of water (see Technical Note B0221).

II – 2. Checks and measurements
The checks and measurements below are to be made if the following faults are active or were present
at least once with the customers:
– MID136 SID76 FMI2.
– MID136 SID76 FMI4.

Carry out the checks and measurements relating to faults MID 136 SID 76 FMI2 or FMI4.
The description below is an aid to diagnostics detailed in 3 operations in the Workshop Manual:
– Measurements and diagnostic checks on the "wiring harness and appliance C134" unit.
– Measurements and diagnostic checks on the appliance C134.
– Measurements and diagnostic checks on the complete sub-system.

Follow the organization chart hereafter:

unit and the brake valve by following the
chapter "Measurements and diagnostic

II – 3. In case of brake valve replacement
– Use the new brake valve references (see Consult).
The vehicles have been equipped with new brake valves since:
CAM 7J9 (07/09/09) for MAGNUM DXi
CAM 24H9 (24/08/09) for PREMIUM DXi / KERAX DXi
CAM 1G9 (01/07/09) for MIDLUM DXi

– The Jobcard is required to confirm that sending back the brake valve is connected with these fault
codes.

Record and send the Jobcard WITHOUT FAIL to the Warranty Department or
Techline.
