A DSLR Camera is a professional camera. It stands for Digital Single-lens reflex camera and
they also produce high quality images.

depth and are extremely good cameras to use. It would be needed to
create images for a magazine that have things such as depth of field, and
the display allowing the user easy viewing of the pictures they take with
the camera, sensors which contain photodiodes which capture light and
many more.
Some DSLR cameras are expensive and cost thousands of pounds
whereas others can cost a couple hundred pounds. They are different in price due to the

Magazine Production Process.

Pre-production - research and planning.

Pre production, research and planning is where the editorial team comes together to share
different ideas and concepts. This is where key decisions are made such as who writes or
edits the article. Research and planning is extremely important since this links to the base
layer of a product. During this stage the production team and writers conduct research and
begin to plan what they are going to create.

Pre-production - flat plan.

The flat plan is created by the editorial team and this identifies how the magazine will be
laid out and how things will be planned, they use a flat plan since this enables them to see
the overall layout and how things are going to look for the article. This is when fonts and
font size, columns etc will be put in place and the general layout and house style of the
article.

Production - writing and sub editing.

At this stage this is where the article is being written using all the research and information
gathered when researching and planning. After being written up it is then given to the sub
editor who checks for grammar or spelling mistakes and the sub editor also prompts the
writer to expand or give more ideas on content that could be covered to make the
magazine more enjoyable. If the article is too long the sub editor will cut it down or they
may just ask for more content themselves. During this stage they may also use archive
images to help empower the magazine making it look more detailed and interesting and
they may use certain images to display this, they use DTP to layout the articles and all the
content.
Post production - checking printers’ proof.
At this stage the magazine will be sent to the publishers where the publishers will provide
a mockup to give t o the editors for the final approval where it will be finalised and ready to
be distributed and sold.

Post production - completion and distribution.

This is the stage where the editors have given their approval for the magazine to be
published. All the final copies are printed then assembled and will start to be distributed
through the distribution company.
