Business Exposure

Introduction
Retail is the sale of goods and services consumers, in contrast to wholesaling,
which is sale to business or institutional customers. A retailer purchases goods in
large quantities from manufacturers, directly or through a wholesaler, and then
sells in smaller quantities to consumers for a profit. Retailers are the final link in
the supply chain from producers to consumers.

Most modern retailers typically make a variety of strategic level decisions


including the type of store, the market to be served, the optimal product
assortment, customer service, supporting services and the store's overall market
positioning. Once the strategic retail plan is in place, retailers devise the retail mix
which includes product, price, place, promotion, personnel, and presentation. In
the digital age, an increasing number of retailers are seeking to reach broader
markets by selling through multiple channels, including both bricks and mortar
and online retailing

Retail shops occur in a diverse range of types and in many different contexts from
strip shopping centres in residential streets through to large, indoor shopping
malls, Shopping streets may restrict traffic to pedestrians only.
Introduction
Retail Store a store to which every customer or every person vists at least once in
a day to buy his daily basic necessities. These stores are available in each village,
each town, each city, because they make available each and every small product
to everyone. So this report is on one of the retail store which is a Grocery Store .
The report is based on the observations recorded during a personal visit to the
store.

1st Retail Store.


Name of Store – BALAJI TRADER

Location – Main Road, Nehru Chowk , Indapur

Type of Store -

o This store involves all grocery items, which are necessary for every house
in day to day activity.
o This store has made available for its customers all types of grocery items,
small household items, etc.
o In short it fulfills the basic need of all consumers.

Day of visit - 13th November 2021, Saturday.

Time of Visit – 3 PM

Objectives -

1. To study the various products available in grocery store.

2.To study the service provided to the customer.

3. To study the various offers given to the customers.

4. To study the management of the store during the pandemic.


Observations –

1. Product Display
During the visit I observed that they had kept their products very neat
and tidy. All the loose items like Dry fruits, Sprouts, Groundnuts, etc were
packed in pouches of various quantity. They had separated the goods like
edible on one side and cosmetics on other side.

2. Service Provided

Customers interaction with Shop Owner shows humbelness and


Politeness . Due to their kind nature customers prefer their store.

3. Offers and Discounts

They also provide various schemes and offers which helps them to
engage the customer and to increase the sales. Due to the discounts they provide
customers prefer them.

4.. Proper Management.


Proper safety and management attracts more and more customers. In this
pandemic they created a new term ‘ WHAT'S APP YADI ’ which helps customer
to order the groceries by sending the list of items needed by a message on what's
app and come to store just to collect the goods, this helped to reduce the crowd in
the store .

2. Retail Store
Name of Store: STARRY NIGHT
Location: Nal Stop, Karve Road
Type of Store: Decorative lights retail shop
 This store sells everything from everyday use lights to fancy decorative
lights.
 Many customers & architectural firms have undertaken huge contracts for
complete lighting solutions for their projects.
 This store caters to the needs for both retail customers & people who need
lights at wholesale rate for their whole house renovation projects.

Day of Visit: 28th November 2022


Time: 11.30 a.m.
Objectives:
 Since the store is at a prime location of Karve road, the shop is
accessible to almost everyone in the Kothrud area.
 This store also offers home deliveries in any part of Pune.
 This shop provides lighting solutions for any and every type of
lighting needs of customers.
 The pricing at this store is quite reasonable & they provide great
discounts on various products.
 This store also offers flexible payment options for those buying the
products in bulk or buying for their whole house renovation projects.
Observations:
 The store has a wide variety of products that add a beautiful look to both
corporate and personal use spaces.
 The owners & staff are very polite & courteous. They show many options
in lighting solutions & also make sure they make available any lights the
customer needs.
 The store has been operational for more than 20 years and they have many
loyal customers who have been coming to the store since many years now.
 They provide a great after sales services for technical aspects of the
lighting products.
 They have an in-house electrician who provides the installation services
for all customers.

Recommendations:
 The store should have a dedicated social media presence so that they
can reach new customers.
 The store should have accessible contact information.
 They should update product pictures & contact information on their
website so customers can make an informed decision.

Name of the store : Patil stationery
Location: Shop No, Bharat Vihar, 19/1, 4, Adhisthan

Type of store: Bombay stationers, General stores and Gift and toys shop
Date of visit : 22 November 2021
Time: 11am
Objectives:
 Customer centricity is at the core of Bombay stationers and gifts and toys
in Erandwane.
 Their main purpose is to provide you with all the accessories needed to
operate the daily function.And the objective is to make your work life
easy by supplying all the items under one roof.
 As the shop is in prime loaction and nearest to the schools and colleges
its main aim is to provide the students and people all types of stationery ,
gifts and toys.
 Procuring all the inventory – art supplies, stationery items, craft material,
etc.

Observations:

 Bombay stationers and gifts and toys in Erandwane Pune is known to


satisfactorily cater the demands of its customer base.
 It stands located at CST No. 951 , opposite Seed infotech limited Is a
prominent In the area and this establishment is in close to the same.
 The business strives to for a positive Through its offerings.
 The accepted modes of Such as cashas, credit cards, debit cards
Paytm ,phone pay, Google Make every business transaction easy and
seamless
 This business has a wide range of product The product and catalogue
Includes Corporate gift, designer greeting, gift article birthday greeting
card, birthday gift etc.
 The establishment is functional on 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM all days open.

4. Retail store

Name of the store : REALINCE MALL

Location : Revolution Mall, Kothrud, Pune - 411038 (Near City Pride Multiplex)

Type of store: Big Bazaar is an Indian retail chain of hypermarkets,


discount department stores, and grocery stores. 

Date of visit: 22 JAN 2021


Time : 11.30am

Objectives:

 To provide the best offers on groceries, food items, kitchen appliances,


personal care products, clothing, accesories and more.
 To provide a platform to do your shopping with big discounts.
 Making consumption affordable and available across all middle class in
India. 
 Vision to provide its consumers with all essential items of good quality
and low prices under one roof.

Observations:

 The types of products offered in its retail stores include Apparel, Food,
Farm Products such as dairy, vegetables, Childcare, and Personal care
products as well as Electronics, Clothing, and Accessories.

 Big Bazaar offers customers products from a variety of brands such as


Coca-Cola, Levis, Samsung, etc. as well as some in-house brands like Tasty
Treat, Clean Mate, Sensei, and other 35+ brands.

  The brand Is considered to be one of the foremost In the retail stores of


the country.

 On entering here one will notice a wide choice in various types of


consumer goods

 Here one can easily purchase all edible goods that have been processed
as well as that are fresh they can shop for all household items like soaps
shampoos utensils cups and plates and much more.

The outlet has been delivering exceptional services to its guests from
10:30 AM to 9:30 PM and has received over 5600 ratings from its
customers.
5. Retail Store
Name of Store – ZARE WATCH
Location – Main Road, Indapur

Type of Store - Watch Store

Day of visit - 25th November 2021, Saturday.

Time of Visit – 5:30 PM

Objectives :-

1. To Study the store layout.


2. To Study the various brands available for customer.
3. To Study the response of customers towards new fashion and technology.

Observation :-
1. Store Layout
The store is designed in very proper way. Space in the store is used very
smartly. All the products are displayed and are visible to the customer
which helps them to compare the products and buy the best one.

2. Various Brands
Nowadays customer prefer good quality products, so brands (like Titan,
Sonata ,G-Shock, FastTrack, etc.) play very important role. The store had
fulfilled this requirement, there were variety of branded watches available
in the store.

3. Customer Response

At the time of visit there were few customers, I observed that customers
were happy with the quality and the prise range of the products. They give
the warranty of the product, so customer need not worry. This helps them
to attract more and more customers.
