Charlotte Bronte
( The complete Summary)

The poem “life” is written by charlotte Bronte one of the famous women of the 19th century.
Charlotte has her own view about life on this earth. Her view is a difference to the view of the sages
who believe that life is only a dream. Charlotte challenges this view. she says, it is not a dream.
According to her life is reality. This poem focusses on these realities of life in their own appealing
way. Her optimistic view bout life really attracts the reader o this short poem.
According to charlotte Bronte, life is a combination of delight and distress, she says that it
may sometimes, rain in the morning. This according to her morning rain indicates a bright day is
going to come later. She feels that the clouds of sorrow will pass away just like the disappearance of
the dark clouds after a heavy rain.

In the same way, when the beautiful rose flowers fade and fall, we may feel disappointed.
However, fresh blossoms will soon crop up bringing sweet fragrance and beauty, Happiness or the
supposed sunny hours in our life may last for some time. We may feel the effect of sorrow in our life.
however, hope will win over the sorrow finally.

Bronte explains the bright side of life through the use of imaginary and figures of speech like
metaphor, personification and simile. According to Bronte a bright future is a head for every one of
us. As the English people say, there is no Easter Sunday without a good Friday’. Everything will be
superb and winning only by going through difficulties and problems. The only thing is that while
problems in our life arise, we should be courageous and determined. it is hope that leads human to
be victorious in life. It is courage that helps humans to have a strong will and willpower.

Temporary set – backs( failures) in life should not stand for long time they pass and we
enjoy in life. It is courage and hope that make a man to lead his life through the different hurdles of
life. The poet repeatedly says that victory is one’s goals in life. Hence one should crush despair and
develop a positive attitude towards an optimistic life.
