Consept of Sos children village

Faridabad is chosen for the study It is a hub of social care, major


children development district with TWO SOS Children's Village, various
old age home and retirement home. Project similar in terms of area for
program, context and building norms
SoS Greenfields

History - It was founded in 1949 by Hermann Gmeiner in Imst Austria. It


came to India in year 1964 by Indira Gandhi. SOS Children's Village at
Greenfields was established in the year 1964.

Ownership-SOS is an independent non-governmental and non-profit


organization working for the holistic development of parentless children,
women and children belonging to vulnerable families

form of a residential community.

Site Planning
POSITIVES

The Site is planned according to the existing land typology. The existing
landscape is merged with the design.

The existing levels of site are utilized in planning. The site has 2 entries.

There is scattered zoning is done.

Parking space is provided near the main entrance.

The circulation is divided into two parts:

. One Between the blocks

• One between the residential clusters

NEGATIVES

The Barrier-free rules are not followed, no Kerb ramps, no handrails etc.

A. One that runs along the periphery of the village.
B. One joining all the clusters.
The Residential Blocks are placed in clusters of five thus
giving the a community and neighborhood feeling to the
residents.
The material used is local stone for all the buildings.
The services are well distributed in the campus for
example the dustbins, well developed path and clear
precise signages. . All buildings are uniformly on the
ground floor with RCC Flat roofs.
Lack of Barrier-free architecture.
Lack of OHTS.
