CR12 Short Response

Was Tucker the hero that everyone thought him to be, or was Richard mostly

responsible for the rescue? Cite text evidence to support your opinion.

Remember to restate the question, properly identify the source with genre, title

and author, back up your opinion with quotes from the text, and explain your

thinking. Make sure to check your spelling, capitalization, grammar and

punctuation.

This is an EXAMPLE! It is not true, or accurate, just use it to see the format of

what a passing paper would look like.

In the short story “Big Things Come in Small Packages” by Eleanora E. Tate, I

believe Tucker is the hero everyone thought he was. I believe he’s the hero because

when he flies through the sky and swoops down to rescue Mr. Nibbles like a superhero,

that shows he’s the hero of the story. When his eyes shoot lasers and kill the sharks that

are attacking, that also shows heroism. You can see evidence of this on page 10 when it

says, “With eyes blazing bright, Tucker swooped down out of the sky to save Mr.
Nibbles, zapping the sharks with his laser vision, turning them into fish sticks.” (Tate 10)

I can’t think of a better hero than Tucker at this moment. Richard was just a bystander

who really didn’t have a part in the rescue, “Richard stared at Tucker and Mr. Nibbles,

wishing he could do something, but froze in his panic.” (Tate 11)
