Course Guidance

Structure

The course is designed as a combination of Online teaching and self-study. Students will have access
to Moodle and Microsoft Teams, where they can access course notes, PowerPoints and other useful
resources. The course is spread out over 10 Weeks of teaching plus self study weeks.

The Online teaching will be run as pre-arranged lectures where students can use the chat function,
to interact, post questions and comments. Outside of this time students will be required to continue
with self-study. The online lectures run in conjunction with teaching in the college and those able to
attend the classroom.

Students will be able to use Microsoft Teams to collaborate, post information or ask lecturers for
assistance. You will be invited to an online induction prior to commencing the course to ensure you
are familiar with Microsoft teams and its functions as well as the course structure.

Attendance

To complete the course, you require 80% attendance, therefore Students are expected to attend all
live teaching sessions where possible. Please take this into consideration when enrolling on this
course as all lessons will be run UK time and you will be expected to attend the live sessions
regardless of time difference.

Failure to attend will go down as absent and may prevent you completing the course.

Software and Hardware

You will need to download Microsoft Teams. Access to Teams will commence on the start date of the
course.

Accessing Teams
You can access Teams in a few different ways, all of which give you access to its full capabilities

 Mobile/Tablet app
o Apple App Store
o Google Play Store

You need to be able to open PDF’s, Word and Run videos MP4, avi or wmv with sound.

You will need a microphone so you can participate and ask questions in lectures.

The college is currently using office365 which all students will have access too via Remote desktop
once you have enrolled.

If you are not using remote desktop and do not have office365 installed on your systems. Then once
you are enrolled go to office.com and log in with your student email address and password, and you
will be able to install office from there for free.
