Experiment 02: Diffraction of electrons in a polycrystalline
lattice

Purpose Of This Experiment:

Notice the diffraction of electrons on poly-glasslike graphite and affirm the wave idea
of electrons.

1. Deciding the frequency of the electrons.

2. Confirmation of the de Broglie's condition

3. Assurance of grid plane separating of graphite

Apparatus:
1. Power supply
2. Electron diffraction tube
3. Tube holder
4. Set of 15 safety experiment leads
5. Ruler
6. Laptop for plotting graph

Procedure:
1.First, we wanted to setup all equipment in a proper manner.

2. Turn on the power supply and give voltage to the electron diffraction tube.

3. State of mind executioner all of the lights in the space for clear vision of the circle
rings on the graphite surface.

4. By and by we register the two widths D1 and D2 in centimeter.

5. We do a couple of assessments to find the recurrence for D1 and D2.

7. Besides, we will plot the outlines in PC through rule.

8.
Note:
The diffraction of electrons on a poly-glasslike graphite foil gives proof to the
wave idea of electrons. It is feasible to notice two diffraction rings
encompassing a focal spot on the hub of the pillar on the fluorescent screen of
the electron diffraction tube. These rings are brought about by the diffraction
of electrons at those cross-section planes of the miniature precious stones in
the graphite foil that fulfill the Bragg condition.
According to de Broglie, the relation between the wavelength λ of a particle
and its momentum p is given by:

λ=h/p
h: Planck’s constant.
