DESIGNING MEANINGFUL PERFORMANCE-BASED ASSESSMENT

Activity 1: PROCESS AND PRODUCT-ORIENTED PERFORMANCE

A. The first step in developing performance assessments involved determining which
concepts, knowledge, and/or skills should be assessed. With this, you need to know what type
of decisions will be made from the given assessment.
Tasks:
1. Identify a process-oriented and product-oriented performance
2. Formulate competencies in defining the purpose of the assessment.
Use the template below in accomplishing this task.

Activity 2 – PAPER PROSPECTIVE

The Research and Development Center of Eastern Samar State University wanted to find
out the level of awareness of the students regarding their political, economic, and educational
rights. The center envisions that the result of the study will show student awareness and
differences among them if they belong to different college levels and taking different degree
programs.
With the given situation, formulate general and specific competencies and identify the
processes involved and product expected from the student in conducting the study.

General Competency Examine the result of the research study about the level of
awareness of the students of ESSUC regarding their political,
economic, and educational rights

Specific Competencies The Research Development Center of Eastern Samar State

University should be able to:

 Identify the level of awareness and differences of students

regarding their political, economic, and educational rights
.
 Determine if the level of awareness and differences of the
students of Eastern Samar State University is affected by
their year level and the degree program they are taking up.

 Analyze and take action once the result of their Research

Study comes out.

Process Involved  Conduct a survey or interview about the level of

awareness regarding the political, economic, and
educational rights that would answer by the students from
the different College levels and degree programs in
Eastern Samar State University.

 Gathered and analyze the data collected and present the

result of the study

The Product expected to use of the Research and Development

Product Expect Center of ESSU to aim their goal are as follows:

 Research Study/Paper

 Interview and survey questionnaire

 Research Presentation for the result of the Study

Activity 3: REFLECTIVE ESSAY

Scan some assignments given to you by your teacher. What did the performance
require you to do? In what ways did the performance enable you to show what you know and
can do? In ways did the performance inhibit what you know and can do? Reflect and write your
insights
.

“A Prince challenge you and your school: A video reaction Activity”

“I sued the school System “ By Prince Ea.

The video “I sued the school system by Prince Ea” Makes us realize of
everything regarding the school system. As Prince Ea stated his case which leads as an eye
opener to the world that the school systems we trust for the learning environment of a child,
and the future of society is not what it seems and there needs to be change, because of the
inequality of the school system for which its killing progression, creativity and individual. And
sometimes discourage the blessing of the individual talent instead of encouraging and help
to discover each student skills. The school is where the student started its education, adapt
the different knowledge to connect to its environment for which will help student future, not
by judging the level of performance and we have our own learning process.

Just like the quote of Albert Einstein which is “Everybody is a genius but if you
judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it’s
stupid”. This quote reminds that though we may not be naturally able to do a certain thing,
that doesn’t mean we aren’t capable of doing something else. Just like what Prince Ea said
that everyone of us has its own skill and talent, so we must believe each of us to be equally
capable of achieving greatness not comparing and judging one’s capabilities and these what
to have to learn and let the students follow its passion until they find where they wanted to
be. That is the true environment needed of the students these days.

Prince Ea sued the school system and explain everything, for us realize and
understand the true meaning of school and the learning environment of the students.
Activity 4 – EVALUATING PERFORMANCE TASK DESCRIPTION
Evaluate the following performance tasks description. What is missing?
Your group in science and technology class asked to perform a laboratory activity in
preparing juice drinks in varied concentration. Perform what you believe you will need to arrive
at the desired learning outcomes. Set up three solutions and identify the saturated solution.
Validation of the answer can be done by asking the classmates to taste the prepared juice
drinks. A representative from the group shall report the findings of the experiment.

Evaluation

Based on my observation, the missing material need to be used in our laboratory

activity in preparing juice drinks in varied concentration which performed by our Group in
Science and technology class, is the scoring rubric. The scoring rubrics will help our
classmates since they are our respondents for this activity for them to be guided in evaluating
the prepared juice drinks to gathered data in finding the saturated solution from the three set
up solutions of juice drinks and right after they can give the accurate results that we needed
for us to arrive at the learning outcomes of our laboratory activity or Performance Task.
