introduced to the themes and
surrounding methodologies that shape
architecture as a discipline. The degree is

What You’ll Study


The course is developed around research-
based learning in the design studio. You
will develop an in-depth knowledge of the
discipline, feel a sense of community with
your peers, and exercise your creativity.
Students will also be introduced to the
contemporary themes and surrounding
methodologies that shape architecture in
Hong Kong and abroad, including
territorial, social, technological, urban, and
environmental issues.

Eye-opening exchange

As an architecture student, you’ll have the
opportunity to participate in local, regional,
and overseas learning and exchange
opportunities, attend a leading
international school of architecture for a
semester, go on study trips to foundational
sites of Asian architecture and urbanism,
and participate in hands-on field
workshops during the summer.

Professional Recognition
The degree is recognised by the
Commonwealth Association of Architects
(CAA), the Hong Kong Institute of
Architects (HKIA), the Architects
Registration Board (ARB), and the Royal
Institute of British Architects (RIBA). This
means you can consider global
opportunities in multiple markets after
graduation.

Career Prospects
The programme sets you up for a
successful career in architectural design or
any other area of interest. After
graduation, you may choose to enter the
two-year MArch programme at HKU or
any other tertiary institution of your choice,
followed by a professional qualification
before registering as a practising architect.
