Sick leaves
Sick leave is permission to be away from work due to an illness. Additionally, sick leave can
either be paid or unpaid, depending on the organization. In addition, according to research,
many companies offer their employees 4-8 sick days a year. Further, an employee is legible for
sick leave in case of; an injury, mental disorder, childbirth, pregnancy, or when receiving
medical, optical, or dental attention. Lastly, other types of leaves include; bereavement, public
holidays, and vacation days.
Answer
Sick leave is essential to employees because it gives them time for self-care, and if paid, it
enables ill workers to access medical care with ease, necessitating their healing. Additionally,
these leaves benefit the organization by; reducing workers’ turnover, preventing disease spread
at the workplace, and increasing productivity. In addition, paid sick leaves may lead to
difficulties for employers because the money that employers use to pay workers on sick leaves
can run profitable projects. Therefore, the misdirection of funds results in employers not
making anticipated profits leading to unachieved business goals. Further, since paid leaves may
result in a lack of business progress, the ideal response is that employers can opt to send
employees on unpaid sick leaves or reduce the pay for the leaves.
