Nanocellulose is a light solid substance naturally occurring obtained from plant matter
. That source material can be trees, various plants, algae, bacteria or even invertebrate
animals like tunicates.. This new material is a pseudo-plastic and possesses the
property of specific kinds of fluids or gels that are generally thick in normal
conditions. The lateral dimensions of nanocellulose range from 5 to 20 nm, and the
longitudinal dimension ranges from a few 10's of nanometers to several microns.

The technical, chemical and commercial applications of cellulose nanomaterials are

truly vast. Chemical manufacturing, pulp and paper, composites, food packaging,
cosmetics – cellulose nanomaterials are currently being used in dozens of industries,
fields, and disciplines around the globe.

Explanation of the used method to prepare nanocellulose particles

By using sugarcane bagasse as agro-waste for preparing nanocellulose particles ,

using NaOH for extraction of cellulose from hemicelluloses and lignin as the
hemicellulose is hydrolyzed and becomes water soluble. then doing filtration by
distilled water and acetic acid to neutralize the filtrate then using H2SO4(60%) to
make hydrolysis to prepare cellulose nano particles , then separation of excess acid
using water and acetone to get PH around 6 .

Study of using CNCs for removal of removal of Pb(II) from aqueous

solution
We have studied using of Nanocellulose for preparing Magnetic carboxylated
cellulose nanocrystals as adsorbent for the removal of Pb(II) from aqueous solution as
a novel magnetic carboxylated cellulose nanocrystal composite (CCN-Fe3O4) was
prepared as an adsor-bent for the adsorption of Pb(II) from aqueous solution.
