Self-Talk Worksheet

We spend more time in our thoughts than we do with other people, so it is important to make
sure our minds are positive places. By challenging negative thoughts, you can improve your
chances of achieving your goals. Identify negative thoughts that you have related to physical
activity, and a positive counter-response for these thoughts. Negative thinking includes being
overly critical of yourself, pessimistic about your abilities, feeling bad about yourself, and
worrying about what others think. Positive thoughts focus on the things that you can control
and include “I can” and “I will” statements.
