COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES


ILO1. describe the trends and development of contemporary business information systems;
ILO2. use computer hardware and software in the context of business;
ILO3. manage organizational and end-user data resources using database management;
ILO4. identify different types of information system for managerial decision support;
ILO5. discuss issues related to security, control and audit of business information systems.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course aims to enable students to gain fundamental knowledge of business information systems and computer
applications in business. Students will be introduced to the recent development of information technology for
business operations and management, the cycle of information system development, and other information
technology issues that would have key impacts on business strategies and operations in a company.

ASSESSMENT:

GRADE DESCRIPTORS
A : Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of the underlying principles and theories of Management
Information Systems with excellent integration of the full range of appropriate principles, theories,
evidence and techniques.

B : Demonstrate very good knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems with very good integration of the full range of appropriate
principles, theories, evidence and techniques.

C : Demonstrate satisfactory knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems and be able to show an adequate understanding of a range of
appropriate principles, theories, evidence and techniques.

D : Demonstrate limited knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems and minimal awareness of appropriate principles, theories,
evidence and techniques.

F : Demonstrate little or no knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
