COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course aims to enable students to gain fundamental knowledge of business information systems and computer
applications in business. Students will be introduced to the recent development of information technology for
business operations and management, the cycle of information system development, and other information
technology issues that would have key impacts on business strategies and operations in a company.

Continuous Assessment ⚫ 1 is individual assignment in form of case study – system
(database) design with report writing 15%
1 mid-term test: 2 to 2.5 hours, multiple choices and questions 20% 1 to 4

B : Demonstrate very good knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems with very good integration of the full range of appropriate
principles, theories, evidence and techniques.
C : Demonstrate satisfactory knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems and be able to show an adequate understanding of a range of
appropriate principles, theories, evidence and techniques.
D : Demonstrate limited knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems and minimal awareness of appropriate principles, theories,
evidence and techniques.
F : Demonstrate little or no knowledge in the understanding of the underlying principles and theories of
Management Information Systems and insufficient awareness appropriate principles, theories,
evidence and techniques.
