GLASS BOTTLE (MVGL)

Description of the Company:

The Malaya Vietnam Glass Company LTD (MVGL), it was established

at year 2009 which is a venture company between MALAYA GLASS PRODUCTS
SDN.BHD and Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation (SABECO). In 2010,
MALAYA GLASS PRODUCTS SDN.BHD has sold whole share(70%) for O-I(Australia)
and Berli Jacker Public Company Limited (BJC, Thailand). MVGL is doing the
procedure to change to CONG TY TNHH THUY TINH O-IBJC VIETNAM and change
foreign shareholders (O-I, Australia held 35% and BJC, Thailand held 35%). The
subject specializes in manufacture of glass packages, high quality glass items
(including cup, cu with handle, ash-pot, etc.), printing, steaming and cleaning glass
packages. The said plant is located at My Xuan A Industrial Park, Ba Ria Vung Tau
province with total area 84,700 square meter. The plant facility is going to replace
the existing plant in District 4, Ho Chin Minh City, with one furnace; three
glassmaking lines and two applied ceramic labeling printing lines. The said plant
imports materials and machines from Malaysia, Italy and England. Products of the
subject are served to many sectors, such as alcohol, beverage, food and drug
nationwide. Its products are provided to many famous clients. In addition, it s also
exported to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Philippines,
United States, Italy, Germany, England, Australia and Cambodia.

Observation:

Glass is truly reusable and can be recycled, its can also help preserve food or
other that must be sealed. Its can also protect the product from harmful effects of light
rays. Using cullet glasses or simply recycled glass with the other raw materials. Cullet is
useful to lessen the raw material to be used, and lower the melting temperature required
for the melting point helping to reduce green house ignition to the environment. Glass
are formed by blowing air inside it to be expand and get the desired form. When the
glass is formed, the outside part cools faster than the inside part and that creates stress
to the product that’s why it needs to undergo stress relieving and in this process it s
annealing. It heats the glass again and also will cools both inside and outside. If the
glass don’t meet the standards and will be rejected, it will be then be cullet and be
recycled.

Manufacturing Process:

The first step in glass bottle production is the preparation of raw materials.
Raw materials are sand, soda ash, limestone and cullet or recycled glass. The next
step is the melting furnace. This furnace resembles the reverberatory furnace
adopted for puddling of the wrought-iron. The tank is filled with raw materials.
The furnace is heated by allowing producer gas through port. The charging of raw
materials and taking out of molten mass are simultaneous. This is a continuous
process and it is adopted to melt large quantities og glass at a time. There are
different ways of glass forming one of it is blowing. The operator then blows
vigorously from other end of blow pipe. It can also be done with the help of an air
compressor. This blowing causes the molten mass to assume the shape of a
cylinder. It is then heated for few seconds and is blown again. The blowing and
heating are continued till the cylinder of required size is formed.
Next process is the annealing. The glass bottles after being manufactured re
to be cooled down slowly and gradually. The annealing of glass is very important
process. If the glass bottles are allowed to col down rapidly, the superficial layer
of glass cools down first as glass is a bad conductor of heat. The interior portion
remains comparatively hot and it is therfore in a state of strain.

Inspection of glass bottles are easier with the help of acute and advance
technology. More than 100 millions inspections can be made throughout the glass
manufacturing procedure to identify air bubbles, grains of sand that refuse to
melt. This is essential in quality proffing the final form of glass. The last step of
glass bottle production are the packing and shipping.
