MINI-RESEARCH PROPOSAL

ADLOSCENTS PREFERENCE FOR COUNSELLOR IN CHANGING


SOCIO-MATRIX IN INDIA

1. Introduction. The Indian society is evolving every day. The life


of an adolescent is no more the same as it was a few decade back. The
limited access to information paucity of communication was a challenge
then whereas the abundance of information and communication is a
challenge now. There is no denial to the fact that life in today’s world for the
adolescent is filled with complex problems, conflicting needs,
disappointment, high hope, peer pressure etc. These issues are constantly
driving them towards emotional complexities. The life for every adolescent
is full of challenges from the very beginning. The availability of large
volume of information on a click of a mouse and to be precise on his/her
handset has worsened the situation. It is a challenge in itself what to
assimilate and what to discard. The good, bad and ugly are placed on the
same platter. The ease in access to information has given a false
empowerment to all adolescent and they consider they don’t need any
assistance. Do these new generations are comfortable with their parents,
teachers or need counseling assistance from professional counselors. It is
high time to know about their preference in addressing their burgeoning
issues.

2. Statement of Problem. To study preference of adolescents in


seeking counselling assistance by review of litreture and suggest best
suited counsellor for them in mitigating the challenges faced by them in
their everyday life.

3. Objective. The good olden past has gone. Counseling in


modern days for adolescents is no more superfluous. It is in fact a need of
the modern time. The multifaceted problems, confusing information on life
and changing socio-cultural scenario necessitates a meaningful support in
the form of counseling. This mini-research will be a modest attempt to give
an insight into the challenges faced by the young mind. The objectives of
this mini-research are as under:-
(a) With the changing socio-matrix do adolescents need counseling
assistance?
(b) Whom do they prefer to discuss about their issues parents,
teacher or professional counselor?

4. Universe of study. The study will be limited to review of


literature on the research work carried out in India on the emerging issue of
counseling assistance to adolescents.

5. Research Method and tools for data collection. The


varied research works carried out by Indian will be studied to draw
inference on the aspect of need of counseling in changing socio-matrix of
India.

child and are acknowledged as adolescents. The availability of large
volume of information and an answer to their all queries on a click of a
mouse and to be precise on their handset have worsened the situation. It is
a challenge in itself what to assimilate and what to discard. The good, bad
and ugly are placed on the same platter. The ease in access to information
has given a false empowerment to all adolescent and they consider they
don’t need any assistance. Do these new generations are comfortable with
their parents, teachers or need counseling assistance from professional
counselors. It is high time to know about their preference in addressing

on adolescent have been carried out. However, not many researches on
preference in seeking counsellor has found out. So it is imperative to study
preference of adolescents in seeking counselling assistance in
today’s context.

3. Objective. The multifaceted problems, confusing information


on life and changing socio-cultural scenario necessitates a meaningful
support in the form of counseling for every adolescent. The objectives of
this mini-research are as under:-
(a) To understand the challenges being faced by the adolescents
today.

(b) To identify the kind of counseling adolescents preferring in


today’s context.

(c) To suggest suitable counseling preferences/choices to the


adolescents.

4. Methodology. Data will be collected from majorly from the


secondary studies and literatures.
