Q.1(a) Explain domain of dependence and zone of influence of different class of partial differential [6]
equations.
Q.1(b) Classify the following system partial differential equations: [6]

(x+y) ∂u/∂x + ∂v/∂y = 0

(x-y) ∂v/∂x + ∂u/∂y = 0

Q.2(a) The finite difference scheme of the linear convection equation ∂u/∂t + c ∂u/∂x = 0 (c < 0) is [6]

Obtain the modified partial differential equation (MPDE) of the above scheme.

and backward approximations. Use step sizes 0.1 and 0.5. Discuss the results.
