JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Teacher of Early Years

Department: Primary & Early Years

Reporting line: The Teacher of Early Years reports to Head of Early Years and Primary.

Job overview:
The Teacher of Early Years inspires, excites and nurture young students through a crucial stage of
their development with the aim of motivating them and using resources imaginatively to help them
learn. The Teacher of Early Years provides a safe and secure environment for young students to
develop their social and communication skills, while recording observations and summarizing their
achievements.

Duties and responsibilities:


 The Teacher of Early Years will be responsible to:
 Provide an organized, disciplined and stimulating environment in the classroom;
 Promote practical first hand experiences and other educationally appropriate activities for
individual and group learning;
 Provide consistent learning opportunities for all young students;
 Make written and/or oral assessments and evaluations of individual students and of the class
as a whole – presenting these to the Head and parents as appropriate - meeting specified
deadlines when required;
 Keep detailed and updated lesson plans (using the school’s proforma) and records of group
and individual work with the students;
 Provide regular assessment feedback to students in line with school policy and use this to
inform future learning;
 Offer support and input to the development of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated
curriculum;
 Under the direction of the Assistant Head or other line-manager to take responsibilities for
designated areas and aspects of the area of which he/she is a member;
 Take responsibility for the care, upkeep and development of school materials and resources;
 Support and apply all Renaissance policies and procedures;
 Assist and support the process of examination and class work moderation both internally and
externally;
 Take part in the school performance management programme as required by the Head of
School;
 Promote the school positively at all times;
 Work with fellow colleagues in a spirit of mutual cooperation to maintain and enhance a pleasant
professional working environment;
 Substitute for absent colleagues when necessary;
 Undertake any other reasonable task or duty as instructed by the Head of School or any other

line manager;
 Attend punctually on all occasions agreed in the contract and as reasonably requested by the
Head of School or Line Manager.

Job requirements:
 A recognized Bachelor degree and PGCE or equivalent;
 A minimum of two years full time teaching experience teaching Early Years.
 Experience with the PYP preferable
 Successful teaching across the range of Early Years.
